Café Des Fontaines

We enjoyed our chasse meal at the Café des Fontaines last October so much we were eager to eat there again but all the restaurants in Switzerland have been closed for a very long time due to the COVID 19 pandemic. So as soon as they were allowed to re open we booked a table at the Café des Fontaines and two friends joined us. We chose the 79frs menu starter of tartare of tuna which was absolutely perfect and came with a small salad, Tagliata de boeuf sliced entrecôte with roquette and shavings of parmesan which was very tender and lovely to look at (and to eat! and for dessert there was an ardoise (slate with small helpings of six different desserts with an espresso if you wanted one. The chasse (hunting) season is on now and friends recommended this restaurant for their chasse. We had a great lunch there excellent and friendly service, delicious food extremely well presented and will go back for sure. It is right in the middle of the old village of Charrat, just of the main Martigny/Sion road. Lots of parking near the restaurant. It was busy so a reservation is recommended. We had a starter of terrine de cerf, then an entrecôte de cerf and ended with a Café Glacé. All were great. Not cheap cost 180frs for two people for those three courses, plus a large bottle of water and 3dl of local (very nice) wine. But worth the price. Lunch and dinner menu is the same...

Super food, great service and moderate prices! Had a tartare de dorade : sublime and well served then a Dorade en papillote: so tasty and fresh! wine list good and great prices. Quality of a restaurant gastronomique and quantities more generous and prices better! We will go back soon! PS : also friendly with gluten and diary product free¨

Toujours aussi bien accueilli par tout le monde, j ai mangé un tartare de Do rade qui était très bon et goûteux , pour suivre un risotto aux asperges du Valais et morilles parfait avec un riz juste cuit . N'oubliez pas de réservé c'est toujours complet

Accueil chaleureux. Serveuses souriantes. Repas excellent. Décoration très jolie. Pour un Restaurant que si on ne connaît pas on dirait un simple bistrot de l’extérieur. Mais un vrai coup de cœur.
