Granny and I visited for Saturday morning breakfast. We were there late morning and unfortunately Gran couldn 't have her croissants as they 'd run out. I had the buffet, which was much like a hotel buffet breakfast and just as tasty. The tables were full of families giving their young kids a Saturday morning treat, friends meeting up for a hearty breakfast and catch up and also couples. The service was good and the waitress seemed to know everyone personally (including my Gran! . I orignially thought 12.50 Euros was a little expensive but an all you can eat breakfast in an hotel would set you back the same amount. So, make sure you are hungry before you go and enjoy a relaxing morning feast!

If you're hankering for a delicious piece of kuchen (cake), this place is the ticket. It is difficult to select from the delectable display of cakes and pastries, but based on the three we had, I don't think you can go wrong. The cafe itself is very chic, tastefully decorated and comfortable. There's a pretty outside area when the weather cooperates. If you're looking for some nice gifts, they have a lovely selection of boxed chocolates and coffee. I would have loved to try Cafe Rothgen for breakfast or lunch but we ran out of time. It's on my list the next time I'm in Bingen (great base for exploring the Middle Rhine area).

We ate here on Tuesday, September 8 before we went to the Rhine Tour. Train from Rothenburg. Very close to the station. Just a few blocks. Ate outside. We had our luggage and didn't want to take it to the restaurant. It was nice. The food was good. The waitress was very nice and spoke English. That was refreshing. The price was excellent.

This cafe was a godsend on an otherwise dreary wet afternoon in Bingen. I had a very good carbonara and glass of dry Riesling for a reasonable amount. Very good and would definitely recommend. I didn't try them but there were some tasty looking cakes too. Very friendly pleasant service, and I was more than welcome as a solo diner
