I have been visiting the village of Waidring for the past eighteen years and the very first place we go to on arrival is Cafe Schmid. Without fail, as soon as we walk in, without any prior notice of our arrival, my husband's favourite coffee...and cake is put in front of him! Now that's what I call excellent customer service! The cafe is spotlessly clean and although small, there is plenty of outdoor seating. It is extremely popular with the locals, who buy the cakes and take them home. This is a famous tea/coffee shop/kitchen sky in the middle of Waidring. People travel from miles to taste their amazing cakes. It is quite small and cozy with some outdoor seats in good weather. You go in and choose your cake and you will be served with what can only be described as a huge piece of delicious heaven! The portions are unbelievable and difficult to finish, but so tasty that you are on soldiers! Amazing!
Slices of cakes are Huge, but very tasty in this cafe in the city centre. The staff was friendly when we came to drink, and cake...off course. In Austria there is only one law that has not yet been implemented and forbids people to smoke in public places. It wasn't overcrowded, and only a smoker. The smell can basically ruin the taste of the super cakes. Just a pity. Nevertheless, I can recommend going here.
Wie in jedem Jahr waren wir aufs neue fasziniert von den riesigen Küchenstücken, die man sich auf jeden Fall ,wenigstens zu zweit bestellen sollte. Alle Kuchen und Strudel sind täglich frisch gebacken und schmecken phantastisch. Auch auf den riesigen Kakao mit Sahne sollte man nicht verzichten. Hier muss man sich im Klaren sein, dass sich mind. zwei Personen auf ein Stück Kuchen einigen sollten. Für eine Person ist ein Stück in der Regel nicht zu schaffen. Das Preisleistungsverhältnis stimmt auf jeden Fall! Wir können nur dazu raten, das Café zu besuchen, wenn man in Waidring.
A tiny coffe shop in the middle of town with the biggest pieces of cake I've ever seen and the best I've ever eaten! One piece lasted for 3. Wonderful smell of coffin and no cigars! The young waiter is... very friendly! And if the small room is overcrowded, you can go the cake!
If I could have eaten more I would have! Cannot believe I did not take pictures! We all devoured the sweet bakery treats! The apple strudel was wonderful. Then a few whip cream/fruit/sponge cake type desserts. Good thing I do not live here or I...would be here every day!
Tolle Kuchen, Tolle, Torten, riiiiiiiiiiiiiesige Portionen, heute Kartoffelsuppe gegessen, alleine nicht zu packen. Kommen schon viele Jahre zu Frau Schmid, iimer gleichbleibende Qualität, das beste im Umkreis von 100 Km, weiter so, Danke für alles. Réservez une table maintenant
