I always like to throw out the disclaimer that I don’t like barbecue much. This is why I get other food when I go to a barbecue place. I got fish and chips and some spinach artichoke dip. The spinach and cheese dip was fine but man. Those chips. Help me. They were covered in grease and half of them were kind of rubbery and gross. Please don’t even bother serving those to people! Fortunately our server brought us some new chips (he said they were “from the inside”… so ask for chips from the inside if yours are bobo when you are sitting outside). I recently had some of the best BBQ I've ever tasted at Calhoun, a wonderful restaurant located right by the river in Knoxville. I ordered the pork sandwich and the brisket plate, both of which were absolutely delicious. The pork was juicy and flavorful, while the brisket was cooked to perfection. The Mac and cheese was also a hit, especially when mixed with their savory BBQ sauce. The bread served at the table was fantastic, with mini French baguettes topped with garlic. Although the cornbread was a bit dry, it didn't detract from the overall experience. Our server, Hannah, was excellent and the prices were very affordable. Don't forget to snap some beautiful sunset photos when you visit!
We were not quite sure what to expect here, but it was great. The shares we "for the price and quality was great. The staff was really nice and helpful with our needs. My only suggestion would be to get more than 1 type of BBQ sauce. It has an acquired taste that not everyone likes. I think that's why most places with BBQ have a variety. The restaurant has a great view of the Tennessee river from the inside. There is also an outdoor dining option, but as not sitting there, as we said there was a limited menu. A great experience.
Pretty decent, the food was standard rate, but no complaints, great views, of course. I bet this place is a Hoot on seasons. The fish was good, not crispy enough for me, but was pleasant tasting and the pommes were quite average, could have been served hotter. My escort has the baked potato and also the white beans/chili soup, she didn't say much so I guess it was okay. I want to come back to dinner one day to get the full experience. Very nice ambiance. It’s lovely to eat outside here when the whether is nice, especially with the view of the water. Our server was very efficient. She was very attentive and took care of us well. I ordered the fish and chips and it tasted mediocre. The apps and ribs were good, but I definitely expected more for my meal. But overall, I definitely recommend checking this place out for the stunning views and optimal customer service.
Place was great and had a good view. The prices were fair for the area and then were actually cheaper when expected on the water or with a great view. The pimple chips were great and came with a sweet sauce. Burgers were well cooked, but not dry and the BBQ was also really good. The parts were more generous. Would come back 10/10.
The food was delicious. Although the waitress was not amazing, she made an effort. The view was pleasant, and there was live music outdoors. The pulled pork potato skins were excellent, as was the prime rib. The macadamia nut banana pudding was incredible! Definitely recommend a visit if you're in Knoxville.
