CPK has been our favorite place to have a quick bite when we shop at the mall since 2014. The food was still great! My order came in a good size and it is very delicious. BUT The server was very disappointing, he only came to ask me “ Is everything okay?” after I’m done eating, not even offered once to refill my drink or check on me if I need anything else while he walked by my table couple times. It was 4pm and the restaurant was not busy. At that point I just simply wanted to pay my bill then leave; I gave him cash to pay my bill, he asked me “ Do you want the change back?”, OMG what on earth does he believe he deserves the 50% tip? I still left a 20% tip on the table because I always tip....
I found the menu a bit confusing. I was simply looking for a small 7-inch pizza for lunch, but the only options available were to order it as part of a combination with either a salad or soup. This meant I would end up spending $20 plus tip, which seemed excessive for lunch. There was some mention of a 7-inch pizza at the entrance, but it looked like you had to bake it yourself, which wasn’t ideal. Ultimately, I decided to just order a regular-sized pizza, knowing I'd take half of it home to make it more economical. The pizza itself was fantastic, but I miss the days when you could just get a personal-sized pizza without feeling pressured to add on a soup or salad.
They had no idea about open table, and obviously I didn't get my points. The clueless hostess was going to sit us next to a table with a screaming baby when many open tables were open. The food was average at best, and a bad joke for the price The pizza was just a notch above the frozen APC. The key lime pie tasted like it had freezer burn, and they should be ashamed of themselves for peddling such garbage. Never again! Just sad. I do have to say that the waiter was awesome.
My only problem with California Pizza Kitchen is that even though I made a reservation (even if it’s only priority seating) we still had to wait 15 minutes. Don’t accept reservations for a certain time if you can’t let people in!!!
