Five stars for our server, Patrick. Five stars for the view, four stars for food, 5 stars for drinks, zero stars for the hostess who greeted (if you could call it that) seated us in the worst possible table we had an ADVANCE reservation for 4 only ended up having 3 people. Your greeting from your hostess often sets the tone of your restaurant, so this young lady needs some training. It turns out that their regular dining room was closed due to a large party that afternoon. We were there for Sunday Brunch with an 11:30 reservation. After telling us dining room was closed we were told we could sit outside or in pub. Not having been there before we had no idea what that entailed or whether outs...
Had a wonderful family lunch at Calvert 's. The food was delicious. The atmosphere and view were great. And Aaron provided excellent service (thank you Aaron! ... always attentive, but not hovering or over bearing.We had Fish and Chips, a Grouper Sandwich, and a hot ham and cheese. And don 't forget the pretzel! The Grouper Sandwich was quite large and filling. The fish in the F&C was golden brown and tasty. And the ham and cheese was pleasing as well. The chips (fries were sliced nicely and fried until crispy but not overly done or hard. All of the food was hot, fresh, and plentiful!All in all we had an enjoyable time and we will be back. The wife and I went for lunch on a Sunday and while there was a wait for an outdoor seat there was no waiting for a seat inside.Our waitress was very friendly and knew the menu well.We started with the fried cheese curds which came with aside of marinara . It arrived hot and was really tasty cheesy goodness.The wife ordered the beef pasties and sautéed squash. The pasties were very flavorful and the squash was great , not over cooked with herbs and a little butter, nice meal.I ordered the fish and chips which were really good, fish was not greasy and with some malt vinegar it really hit the spot. Their chips are really unique cut thin on one side and get thicker, great scoops for the tartar...
I don't quite understand this place. English pub fare (heavy and often stodgy) doesn't seem to match the view and local appetite, which is a shame with the view and overall pleasant atmostphere. Given that McGuires and Sir Richards are right down the street and have no view, why muck up a great location with gluggy brown gravy and sausages and mash and such? The menu is too small for that kind of kitsch. Most of aren't homesick for British food. Might as well put marmite on the menu. I wish they would cut a lot of the English stuff off the menu and add some more local and FRESH options. Mothers Day Brunch 2023 was amazing! The brunch had three stations: breakfast, lunch, and dessert. There was no lines and the lunch station had salmon, carved prime rib, beef, and much more. The breakfast had all the normal breakfast items. The deserts were awesome and had many too choose from. The service was outstanding. Autumn was our server and she was most professional and provided the best service possible! If she is working and you are lucky enough to get seated at her table your dining experience will be exceptional! Thank you Autumn.
Had a 1st date there. We opted for outdoor Waterview seating at Sunday Brunch. It was beautiful. The heat finally kicked in as the breeze was blowing somewhere else. We requested to transfer to a table inside and the staff was wonderful in securing us the 1st available and transporting our drinks and appetizers inside. No problem! The mimosas were bottomless and we mixed it up with pineapple and even cranberry juices. Reasonable prices and great atmosphere. We'll be back soon.
We visited Calvert's to celebrate our anniversary and were delighted with both the food and the service. We enjoyed French onion soup, smoked tuna dip, bangers and mash, and walnut mustard crusted salmon, all of which were excellent. For dessert, we had the blood orange brownie, and it was equally delicious. Our server, Alex, was incredibly attentive and polite. We wholeheartedly recommend Calvert's for any meal, whether it's a special occasion or just a regular outing.
Overall a good experience! We order Togo fish and chips. They made sure to set us up with all the ketchup, malt vinegar, lemon, and Tatar sauce. The service was great. The fish was pretty good, I won’t say it’s the best fish I’ve had, but pretty good. The chips are outstanding just between chips and fries, so it has a good flavor and texture.
