Canadian Cafe - Réservation de table

We are new to the area and were looking for a local Chinese food restaurant. This one came up so, despite the name, we placed a take out order. It was absolutely terrible. We spent $60 on food that all got thrown out but one...dish. The egg rolls were under-cooked and had very little filling. The chicken fried rice was missing the chicken, the Cantonese chow mein was super salty and flavorless. My son who ordered the veggie egg rolls said they were terrible as he ran off to the trash can after taking a bite. He did say the General Tao's Tofu and veggies was not bad. Without question and with no exaggeration it was the worse take out we have ever...tried to eat. We ended up quickly scrapping...

We've lived in the community for 5 years and have ordered from this establishment on a few occasions. Each time the food/service has declined but this time was definately the last!! We phoned in our order which included some deep fried shrimp and were told...we couldn't get delivery for 3 hours so my husband went out and picked it up. Upon arriving at the time given he was told our order was still being prepared. Then they told him that they ran out of shrimp but they would substitute chicken balls instead as it's basically the same thing...and apparently chicken chow mien and chop suey are the same thing. We often order take-out from the Canadian Cafe. They will make foods spicier on request, and we often ask for spicy vegetables, which are not usually overlooked, something that can be an issue. I recommend trying the General Tao chicken and the Szechwan noodles. I...have not dined inside, but the owners take care to make sure your food is good. They are small, so best to place large orders with plenty of notice.

incredible food! ordered and waited two hours that would not have been so bad if eating had been fresh and hot. it was obvious before the delivery to the heating that made everything dry and chewing. they have been in almonte for many years and have gone steadily. no pride or care about what customers think. I can't believe it's still in business! kanadier cafe will never get my business again! Réservez une table maintenant

this place is a must for fresh, lively, tasty eating and very cozy....loved it! I look forward to trying everything on the menu. we had seafood, huh and vegetarian selections. all sold out... thanks to them canadian cafe

We were the only patrons and the kitchen was idle when we arrived for supper. We were warned that everything was made fresh so food would take some time. Food was hot and fresh, we made but most dishes were bland.

Wayyy over priced and absolutely gross!!! Food was soggy, cold and not authentic Chinese food at all, flavours were bland and disgusting. Réservez une table maintenant

Horrible food, horrible atmosphere. Do not recommend it at all. They were once sort of good many years ago but have steadily declined.

we love the Canadian caffe! it's good, classic Chinese kanadier. running by wonderful people. it is an almonte institution
