I'll start with location location location .. the view of Dana Point Harbor is spectacular from this locale. So makes ambiance nice. The decor appears a bit dated but that view, Alone a reason for a visit. The food overall is quite good. The calamari steak appetizer was yummy. My entree, a scallop linguini was overly saucy, soupy even. But the taste was good after shaking a it out a bit. The scallops were tender and not over cooked. The mud pie dessert was tasty. The menu seems a bit limited and it's on the higher side of price scale. Service was attentive and friendly. Well worth a nice night out here. Rumor has it that the city would like to replace the restaurant with a multi story hotel....
Cannons has been a family favorite for a long time. You simply cannot beat a glass of wine on warm summer evenings and afternoons on that patio overlooking the harbor. Great staff, super friendly owners that are always around, and the food is fantastic. Delicious seafood, perfectly cooked steaks and a great wine menu. My wife and I were married on their patio, if you are looking for a space for a party, meeting or wedding, I definitely recommend it as a venue as well. Two thumbs up!
It is a great place, it is about 45 years, and the city wants to close it at the end of 2018? To put a hotel in this place if they already have 4 on the beach. Dana Point. There are only 2 restaurants that sit on the hill, give you the view of the port of this place and Charter Steak House. People have weddings here, there is already one next to the restaurant, Blue Lantern Inn.
Last night's event went off without a hitch. Lisa and Greg plus the entire waitstaff/kitchen were on point for the (early) birthday celebration party put on by the South Coast Detachment Marine Corps League in honor of the 243rd Marine Corps Birthday. I will miss Cannon's and wish the best for the planned boutique hotel and will always treasure the memories had there.

This was a great seafood restaurant with seating that essentially hang on the cliff. Great view of the port and sunset colors the boats. After the darkness, the port is illuminated, which is a different view itself. Lobster Bisque was one of the better ones I ever had, and the steak and swordfish were both made very good. Definitely a place to check out.
Romantic and beautiful all in this corner. Best service, best food, and the best location. Dana point had allot of beautiful coastal scenery but this had to be the best. Very reasonably priced.

Good food, best view in Dana Point. I love Prime Rib Slider for Happy Hour. Kim the bartender is great, great service, great personality and easy to speak. She made us welcome!

Went for a wedding party. Appetizers and salmon entree was good. Great waiter service. Indoors could've turned on the AC though.
Fantastic views. Amazing food. Coconut shrimp skewers were so, so good.
