The standard here has dropped dramatically since the last time I visited. We ordered starters to share, which were halloumi and the brisket arancini. The rice in the arancini was undercooked and hard but otherwise tasty starters. We both ordered the buttermilk chicken burger and what an atrocity. For £15 a burger we were presented with a flat burger with two chicken goujons, one slice of lettuce and one slice of tomato. The burger used to be a beautifully battered fillet, but I have no idea what that cheap, flat, nothing chicken they presented this time was. And just one dollop of sauce. wow wow wow! Used to come here all the time and never had a great experience; food wasn’t great for prince and staff were no where to be seen. Drinks were appalling for price. However, i was very skeptical when my friend booked her for her birthday meal due to past experiences. Upon entry, we were greeted by staff and seated at our table immediately. Young girl serving us was phenomenal, recommending drinks and food to our liking. It was a big group (8 of us and cockails came quickly and tasted great! My friends and I came here to celebrate an engagement, but we were disappointed with the experience. Two people in our group arrived before me and had already ordered cocktails, but they were still waiting for them 20 minutes later. No one came to take our drink order until the other cocktails arrived, which tasted like pure alcohol mixed with watered-down juice. The service was slow, and after 40 minutes I had to go up to the staff to place our food order. The upstairs seating area was uncomfortably hot. Haven’t been for canteen and cocktails for years but in the past have always found the place great! Really nice cocktails and friendly staff. We came here to celebrate a friends birthday over the weekend, but unfortunately it wasn’t how I remembered . Service wasn’t the best at all . Disappointed to find the blender was broke so a lot of the cocktails were unavailable. We had drinks forgotten about. I went for the lasagne which was burnt on the bottom and rock hard on the top probably from sitting under a lamp too long! The best part for me was the chips! Won’t be returning anytime soon sadly .

Popped in on a Saturday night with my husband for a cocktail. Stood at the bar far too long with no acknowledgment waiting to be served. When finally served by the most miserable bar man I have ever seen our cocktails were underwhelming to say the least. £7.50 for a tiny espresso martini which didn’t even contain fresh espresso,my husband makes better ones! This has always been our go to place for cocktails but it has gone right down and it’s no wonder it was so quiet…won’t be returning.
Poor service from staff. The table was not ready for our booking.The cocktails were very badly made. We were made to sit on a high table to eat our food. Did not give us any time to decide what drinks we wanted as we were rushed. Drinks took a while to come and when they were ready they were left at the bar whilst the staff were chatting for longer than 5 minutes. Last 2022, canteen and cocktails was amazing all round! However with the new staff they need to be properly trained.
During our visit, we had to request clean glasses twice as the ones we were given were dirty with lipstick marks and residue from the dishwasher. It was disappointing to see only one waitress managing the drink orders and table service for the entire downstairs area. She appeared to be young and was clearly struggling to keep up with the demands of the busy restaurant.
Our visit to the restaurant was extremely disappointing. We had to send back our starters because they were missing cheese and jalapeños. Despite being the only customers, our main meals had not even been started by the kitchen. We decided to cancel our order and leave. It was a sad experience for us as we had been eagerly anticipating a pleasant evening.

I came with my family staff really polite and well presented food was quick at coming out and was delightful bar staff very welcoming and polite also went out there way to get our drinks out as we are fussy with drinks all in all 10 out of 10 and will be returning in future
