My regular Chippy had closed at 10 pm so I looked in the direction of Cowbridge Road East and discovered the Canton Fish Bar. It looked a very ordinary sort of place but don't be fooled by appearances. The cod and chips I had were the best I have had in Cardiff in my 26 years of living in the City. Cod freshly cooked with chips firm on the outside and soft inside. Unlike the soggy chips from certain chippers in Cardiff. It will now be my favorite Chippy in Cardiff. The proprietor was friendly and helpful and told me he had been there for over 20 years. Highly recommended.
I looked at website prices, 2 large fish and Small Chips was supposed to be 12 pound..I had 2 large fish, i small and 1 large chips, he charged me 14.50..I got home, the so called 2 large fish, both were 35 of fish a chunk of batter..The chips were so bad, even my dog wouldn't eat them..They tasted like they had been cooked twice and left..We ate about 20 of the chips..Waste of 14.50, shame because i was looking forward to them having just moved to this area..Would never go there again.Thanks but no thanks.
Normally I would give this restaurant a higher rating. However, I have always ordered via Just-Eat. Today the website claimed that my food had been delivered, but it hadn't, and no-one seems to know what happened. The restaurant told me Just-Eat should deal with the problem, and Just-Eat told me it was the responsibility of the restaurant. Neither of them was prepared to re-order my food and Just-Eat claimed they couldn't authorise a refund without a 48 hour investigation. So I;m hungry and out-of-pocket.
Had a takeaway delivered from the Canton Fish Bar whilst staying in the city. Very good food, great customer service, friendly and helpful driver. The only downside was the length of time it took, the 30 minutes estimated delivery time turned out to be 90 minutes. Apart from that, all good.

very friendly staff and the chips are correct chip shop chips, I probably have eat here once a week, had never had problems and had never waited too long.
WOW absolutely fantastic, best baguette I've had in a long time, loads of filling really good quality. Friendly and very good value for money
It was a good place, there was a tasty fresh fish, the service was great and funny. I suggest to go here to eat something fast and good.
Had fish and chips, potato fritter and jumbo sausage. Very tasty, fresh food. Light, crispy batter and meaty fish.
