For appetizers, we ordered a few spinach dips and a selection of other dishes. The spinach dip was average, but the other items, referred to as "storms," were outstanding. They had a delightful crunch, plenty of cheese, and were incredibly rich and creamy! For my main course, I chose the salmon with broccoli and opted for grottoes instead of rice. While the salmon had a great flavor, it was unfortunately excessively salty, making it difficult to enjoy. I tried to remedy it by adding pepper and mixing it well, but I could only eat about half before giving up. I wasn’t alone, as several others at our table noticed the same issue. We ordered drinks with our appetizers, which were decent and definitely stronger than expected—no complaints there. However, after finishing our drinks, our appetizers still hadn’t arrived. Our waitress, Kaity, was wonderful and apologized, although it wasn't her fault. We ordered more drinks, and when the food finally arrived, it all came together at once—appetizers and entrees stacked on the table, which was a bit frustrating. The peel-and-eat shrimp were nice and cold, which was a big plus, but the rest of the food was just average. I have been here several times throughout the course of the past 20 years and I can say that each time I have been here I have had a great experience! It's such a beautiful atmosphere on the water and the food is really good too. During this most recent trip, I had the Chili Lime Shrimp Tacos which were amazingggg and my father had the Spinach salad with strawberries, pecans, goat cheese, and he added shrimp to it. We also tried the hummus plate for an appetizer. The best part of this place is being right on the water and being able to dine outside if desired. I highly recommend and will always return when I am in the area for a visit!
Many people adore Captain's Quarters for its stunning views and excellent drinks. I must say, it's an amazing spot for people-watching, especially on weekends. The crowd is a delightful mix of young and old, coming from various backgrounds, which makes it a comfortable place to bring a group. While the food is slightly above average, the appetizers and surprisingly, the pizza, truly shine. The fried banana peppers are oddly addictive, and the veggie pizza is fantastic. Nice location and plenty of parking. The hostess didnt know where our table was for our reservation. It was an outside easter igloo. The wait staff never came out to take drink orders so I went and found them. I plugged in the heater and lights for the igloo. The table was set up but that was it. Over the course of brunch we had 3 different wait staff and when I went to pay they had never started a bill. Not sure if they where ready for easter. The atmosphere was great and the food was good. The organization was a little off but I will go back to see how it is on a non holiday weekend.
I have been visiting Captain's Quarters for years, and I have always enjoyed the exceptional food and service. The atmosphere is unbeatable, as the restaurant is located right on the Ohio River. You can choose to sit outside, which is the perfect spot on a nice day, or enjoy the lovely water view from their beautiful indoor dining area. They also offer a fantastic Sunday brunch that features an omelet bar, a Belgian waffle bar, and a wonderful dessert bar—absolutely delicious!
This place is incredibly relaxing and vibrant! The property features bright, colorful table umbrellas and Adirondack seating, creating a delightful atmosphere. The live cover band definitely enhanced the Friday evening festivities. Sitting by the Ohio River is absolutely spectacular, especially with the sunset and the distant bridge adding to the view. Watching the boats, yachts, and other watercraft was a lot of fun! The food and service were exceptional as well!
If you are looking for a classy but down home restaurant with plenty of elegance this is most certainly the place to be. We went on a date night, for a calmer side ask to sit on the opposite side as the bar. It's not rowdy just quieter over there next to the fire place. During the summer months this place has a beautiful outdoor seating area right on the river front with breath taking sunsets. Réservez une table maintenant
Very cool setting, with a casual but refined mood. I was very impressed by the food quality; I had the Bourbon Steak who was grilled for perfection. My wife had the seafood trio, that was also great. I would also recommend the old fashion very much. We will definitely be back for another date night.
