On a Friday during Lent, I stopped by in the afternoon to pick up some seafood for my wife and me. I ordered four of their famous crab cakes, specifically the Smith Island ones, and a pound of their Jumbo Shrimp. I was impressed by the quality of the crab cakes and the delicious flavor of the jumbo shrimp. I had enough left over to enjoy for breakfast the next day, so I decided to cook up the remaining shrimp, crab cakes, and baked potato in a frying pan with red bell pepper, onion, hot Italian sausage, garlic powder, black pepper, and truffle oil from Italy. I have tried all of their crab cakes and I have to say they are all excellent. My family prefers the non-breaded ones (just a preference but we have found all of Cap'n Chucky's products at this location to be excellent. Their frozen soups are an excellent quick dinner too. Every time I've been in, the folks behind the counter are busy making fresh products in the back (I know it's fresh!!! and are extremely helpful, friendly and patient. Yes, some of their items are pricey but the ingredients are high quality and expensive items so I think their prices are extremely fair. We are happy customers many times over.
I had the pleasure of trying out this gem tonight! Rarely do I try others crab cakes since mine have no filler but some seasoning and I found a place that can complete. Not only do they use quality crab but the flavor and the price is good too! They also offer some yummy other options like the stuffed mushrooms and Shrimp and wasabi roll. We also got the broccoli and mac and cheese which my 5 year old ate both. I look forward to treating my family to a delicious, and light on the waistline, dinner from there again.
Forested seafood places, especially market types came across this place. I wanted to try it in May. I ordered Smith Island Crab Cakes, Stuffed Mushrooms and Jumbo Wild Caught Gulf of Mexico Steamed Shrimp. The absolutely best shrimp ever. Taste, quality and freshness are excellent. In any case, it will buy more from here. Very recommended.
Had Chucks shrimp for the first time ever, AMAZING!! And I make a very good shrimp cocktail, hate to admit it but they may be better then mine. Also had the potato salad..SO GOOD!! We also had the crab shrimp cakes again AMAZINGLY GOOD. I will be ordering food from Chucky?s for the holidays for sure! Worth every penny!!
This restaurant offers a great variety of crab cakes, crabs, and hearty salads. They also have specialty items that are unique to Philadelphia, such as Stock's pound cake. It's a small business with high-quality products and friendly staff, and definitely worth supporting.
