Carolyn's Soul Food

Inviting Southern cuisine restaurant with a delicious selection of sandwiches, main entreé, sides, desserts and beverages. I do not feel that my wait is very long whenever I place my take-out order with the friendly counter staff and I notice several customers, come in to pick up their orders and they smile and chat with the staff as well. Orders are cash only, you pay right after ordering and there is an ATM provided in the waiting area if needed. My food is always packaged very well and everything I have ever ordered has a wonderful aroma and tastes great!

Carolyn...The food is great! Im hooked. I have some less than great soul food mostly from the Newark side and Everything I had at Carolyns has been great. I love the Catfish dinners they are fried golden to perfection they are popular and often sell out if you order late, like i mostly do. By late I mean after 4:30pm because Carolyn's closes early. The Baked Mac and Cheese is everything, as are the Yams and Collards. (Yams and Catfish sold out today Im sad) I've been ordering from here for over a year and will definitely continue.

I ordered my food at 10:30am for a delivery for 1pm. Was called at 12:30pm saying the max and cheese is baking. My food arrived at 2:40pm the max look like the left overs from the night before and was cold. No bread, no sauces... no cornbread. And they would t answer the phone I called 4x's... I will never order again. Not cool. Grubhub delivery from a 18:00 meal to a $30.00 delivery. Nope lesson learned to neva Eva again. Not worth it . Fresh Mac and cheese my a Leftovers.

Apparently, it's really hard to remember to add the bread for a MEATLOAF SANDWHICH. This restaurant has great food but the owner needs to get rid of the mediocre staff who can't remember that a sandwich means the order needs bread.This is the second time. How brainless can you be.

Not sure if this is the only soul food place in jersey city but if it is , sheesh.. restaurant itself needs a serious revamp. Outdated interior has a funny smell . Don’t know what be on the Mac cheese that it look like that. Hours are ridiculous.

Entertainers, celebrities, and the accomplished tell you about Ruths Chris, La Belissimo, and others. But if you want some 'slap somebody ' food; you might want to go to Carolyn 's. I have 2 words. GOOD LAWD!!!!! #yeahman

I love this restaurant they give you your money worth it. And the staff is very friendly, the food is so tasty I love them .I recommend people to them all the time.
