A friend who shares my interest in food and wine suggested we try this restaurant. He stated "best Portuguese food in Sydney and as cheap as chips". Well what could we do but go!Our usual Friday night crew, - my wife, our granddaughter and our friend Albert went last night, 30 September 2016.The restaurant is situated in Marrickville Tennis Club, a licensed club with poker machines. The restaurant has a dance floor and a stage. It looked like most, if not all, the guests were Portuguese or Spanish. The "special' were written only in Portuguese. The menu was both in Portuguese and English.One needed to go to the Club bar to purchase drinks at Club prices (i.e. low). The red wines were priced...
Love this well hidden restaurant serving old-school Portuguese dished Benfica (the soccer club based in Lisbon) players will be proud off! Entree I shared with was the clams, probably frozen but the sauce was stunning, and the soup of the day: Caldo Verde; traditional potato soup heavily flavoured with garlic containing greens (this case kale) and pieces of Chorizo. So delicious! The portion was huge! And then our mains came: the Arroz de Marisco was enough for two people and had an amazing spicy kick to it! And the Bacalhau Assado was just... huge! So quit on your diet, come starving, and enjoy a wonderful feast of Portugal!

I shared with was the mushes, probably frozen, but the sauce was stunning, and the suppe of the day: caldo verde; traditional potato soup strongly flavored with garlic with green (this case kale) and pieces of chorizo. so delicious! the part was huge! and then our head came: the arroz de marisco was enough for two people and had an amazing spicy kick to him! and the bacalhau assado was just. so stop eating, they come hungry and enjoy a wonderful firm of portugal!
Grand restaurant portugais avec d'excellentes portions de fruits de mer et riches. Selon le jour où vous pouvez être occupé et que le service peut être assez lent, mais si vous pouvez attendre cela en vaut la peine. Service amical dans un ancien club de style avec des gens jouant au tennis dans les plats à l'extérieur et les enfants se promenant partout. Ils avaient de la musique en direct pendant que nous étions là-bas, mais pour moi, tout était question de la nourriture. La plaque de fruits de mer partielle était le standard.

Be warned. Portions are massive. Our terracotta dish of sizzling garlic prawns holds about 8 prawns for $17. The prawns are plump and sweet but it's the caramelised garlic oil that's the real winner. Our waiter is quick to replenish our bread basket as we soak up the last sticky remnants of oil.The vongole clams are listed as an entree but it's more of a main in portion size. Some of the clams do have a little grit and sand, but otherwise they're cooked masterfully, tender and succulent in their dousing of tangy lemony sauce.
Je me sentais le mal du mal et la meilleure façon de réparer c'est à travers la nourriture ... Dès que nous avons découvert cet endroit, nous devions juste lui donner un aller. Je suis allé pour un bittoch, parce que si c'est une place portugaise, vous ne pouvez pas vous tromper. Grande pièce, directement sur le menu Spot avec des endroits abordables. Et tout est délicieux! Oh, et jusqu'à présent, c'était le plus bel espresso de Sydney.
Great Portuguese restaurant with excellent seafood dishes and abundant portions. Depending on the day they can get very busy and service can be pretty slow, but if you can wait it's worth it. Friendly service in an old style club with people playing tennis in the courts outside and kids running around everywhere. They had live music while we were there, but for me it was all about the food. The share seafood platter was the standout.
This place is the best value traditional Portuguese food ive ever had the pleasure of indulging in.Have eaten here many times and always exceeds expectations. My tip is to have someone interpret the specials board and you simply cant go wrong.The normal menu is just as good and you will not be disappointed. Something for everyone and very child friendly.

I was feeling homesick and the best way to fix it is through food... So as soon as we found out about this place we just had to give it a go. I went for a bitoque because if it's a portuguese place you can't go wrong. Big room, right on spot menu with affordable places. And everything is delicious! Oh, and it was the nicest espresso in Sydney so far.
