we were in casa madeira twice. for the first time we were seduced by very tasty muscheln in white wine. cheef makes it very good. everything was in measure in this dish - garlic, salt, tomato, weinuppet / portion was big enough. we enjoyed vinho verde who accompanied our food. of coarse, difficult to compare casa madeira with restaurants in lissabon or in porto. that is hamburg. but we felt how the true taste and the soul portugals were brought from teju and douro to elba. at the end of eating we ordered old tawny and portugal brandy as digestif. some months later, at our next visit in hamburg, we invited our friend to the casa madeira. was also good and delicious. the ambiente of the restau...
we were before our cruise to norway for 2 nights in hamburg. one evening we wanted to taste a local restaurant for dinner and came to a street full of Portuguese restaurants. we chose casa madeira, because it was quite full and we thought it had to be good. we were not disappointed as eating, especially seafood, are fresh and tasty. the waiter is also a nice guy who tells us that in 1973 many Portuguese arrived in this opposite hamburg. that explains why there are so many restaurants serving Portuguese food. the food bills are not expensive either. all in all we had a very good culinary experience in hamburg.
I went into this restaurant to eat cold fish, one of the best eating in portugal. I was in lisbon and the bacalao was wonderful. here I first served a very small piece bacalao full of potatoes. I complained about it and they served me another piece. Anyway, it was too salty, it is not the right way to cook a bacalao. if you want to be a good Portuguese restaurant, you should cook the bacalao very well. but no good restaurant.
I cannot agree with some reviews. After I was so long away from portugal, I wanted to eat real cod! I looked at several restaurants nearby, and this was the only one that had the court I wanted. it has met my expectations and they were high! friendly service, very good food; the background music should be Portuguese and not Brazilian!

sat outside on a sunny Sunday afternoon, tempted by the location. right on the road in the Portuguese quarter, so the situation was great, but the positive for us ends there. we had a common tapas cellar and a meat and fish plate. both at best very average. nothing special, only everything very common and without quality.
restaurant in the Portuguese quarter near the harbour. if they choose the main dishes, the portions are large, we order heavy fish with green paprikasauce. Beautiful and tasty the grilled fish was perfectly grilled. a lot of action on the street and in the restaurant made the statistics perfect.
I had eaten there at lunchtime, we ordered boquerones and they served "fried sardines." when we realized the taste, we told him the waiter and he was entering. we are cutting and we recognize fish, I do not recommend this place and 2.1 for a glass water
it is not easy to get here in the Portuguese quarter to the right restaurant. that's a good one. we had grilled sardines and a tintenfisch / Calamari spear (damage that I didn't photograph the court as it was presented!.) good!

we were not satisfied with this restaurant....the waiter recommended us a special appetizer if we wanted something little back....he said you shouldn't have eaten so much broth...(that we didn't eat at all) were ripped off.
