This place definitely exceeded expectations (which were high anyway). Lovely selection of wines, amazing pizza and the starters are the real star of the show. We tried quite a large selection of items and we could not fault any one of them. Particular favourite was the boudin noir macaroon, which is absolute genius in my opinion. Worth every penny, with outstanding service it is certainly a destination in itself when visiting York.
What a great place. The staff should be very proud of themselves. Made to feel very welcome and staff eager to help navigate the amazing wine list. We called in for my wife's birthday fairly last minute. They even called ahead to advise kitchen times so we wouldnt be disappointed. The Octopussy pizza is tbest thing I eaten ten for a long time.
The quality of the food at this restaurant was average at best. We ordered a meat platter to share, which was lacking in quality and seemed like it was prepared with ingredients from a budget grocery store. The pizza we ordered was mediocre, nothing to write home about. My recommendation would be to save your money and dine elsewhere.
The Cave du Cochon always delivers excellent service and knows how to deliver when it comes to wine selection! The staff is exceptionally helpful in helping customers choose the best wine for their taste. The food was decent and the wine selection was nice. We visited on a Saturday evening, but they had run out of the wine we wanted and were also out of dip for the pizza. Additionally, the service was not up to par. The waiters appeared to have an attitude as if they were doing a favor by serving us.
It feels like a dream in Bordeaux. The staff was fantastic, they talked to us about the wine, but without being too pretentious. I was worried it would be overly formal, but it was actually quite relaxed and informative. We also tried some of the food, which was delicious.
This fantastic cozy restaurant is located in the center of York. It offers an excellent selection of wine and the staff is brilliant at helping you choose. We tried four glasses of wine and a pizza. The pizza was the best I've had in a long time, it was spectacular.
simply the best weinbar in the north. through the glass selection is always changing and exotic. wonderful staff to talk through everything. expect them to get £8-£12 per glass (and more if they want) but they get what they pay! second on none. Réservez une table maintenant
