Absolutely amazing barbecue! This place might be a little off the main road, but it truly impresses. When we went, the restaurant wasn't busy, which allowed for attentive service that felt personal without being overbearing—a definite plus. The food was exceptional; be sure to try the candied bacon if it's available. The restaurant has a modern open layout that enhances its ambiance. While open spaces can sometimes create unwanted echoes, it maintained a pleasantly quiet atmosphere that complemented the smokehouse vibe. When our food arrived, it looked appetizing, but unfortunately, the brisket and pulled pork were served cold—not just at room temperature, but actually cold. We informed the waitress, who took it back to the kitchen. When it returned, the sides had grill marks, but some slices of meat were still cold. The shrimp, unfortunately, had become overcooked by this point, which was disappointing. The manager came over to apologize and explain that the meat is smoked and about the temperatures. While he was polite, I find it hard to believe that the meat was freshly prepared that day—it tasted refrigerated. I truly think that if the meat had been fresh, it would have been fantastic.
Unfortunately, we were extremely disappointed with the meal! We had such high hopes based on all the positive reviews. We ordered the Texas charcuterie, but the turkey and brisket were incredibly dry, especially without any sauce. Since it was our first time, we weren’t sure if we were supposed to ask for BBQ sauce. The pulled pork and ribs had good flavor but were also quite dry. The collard greens and beans were delicious, but the cornbread was really dry—it sucked all the moisture out of my mouth. We also ordered the risotto without protein, and while it was a bit undercooked, it was still creamy, flavorful, and delicious.
CAYA participated as a food vendor at a local charity event, and their pulled pork BBQ nachos were incredible! We loved them so much that we even ordered some to take home. The service was exceptional as well. We can't wait to drive over and dine in at their restaurant as soon as possible! Definitely give them a try! Food: 5/5, Service: 5/5, Atmosphere: 5/5. I visited for their lunch service, but the place was completely empty, including the staff. I stood at the counter for almost 10 minutes without anyone acknowledging me. While their food might be tasty, the service is terrible. I wouldn't recommend it unless you have plenty of time to spare. Service rating: 1.
I'm really saddened to see that this place has closed down. I discovered it last year and shared it with my family, who also adored it. The food was consistently amazing, the drinks were fantastic, and our servers were a lot of fun. I truly hope they can reopen one day. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
