This is a place where it helps to know the rules. When you arrive, walk straight to the back and pick out the fish you want from the menu and/or the case in front of you. It was early in the evening, but they were inexplicably running out of several items, so at the suggestion of the waitress, I ended up with a large piece of Swordfish, a medium sized Mackerel, and several small Sardines.Everything is cooked in the same grilled with oil and garlic style, but no one should complain about that, The swordfish (which was what would often be considered a full dinner portion by itself), was spectacularly good. Locals spot. Unbelievable value. Choose your meat or seafood to be grilled over charcoal before you sit down. Wine by the 1/2 litre or litre. Sardines were amazing, well seasoned, 8€ for 9 sardines? Get in there for 7 as it gets well busy. Cards accepted. The tomato and onion salad with bread is just fantastic. We had two portions of sardines as we didn’t realise how many we were getting, these come with potatoes, a portion of sausage, these come with chips, not needed by this time, bread salad litre of wine, 33€, say no more.
We had a delicious meal here between the Portuguese. It is very basic, originally flavoured, with a wide choice of fresh fish from the grill. My advice is to share the meal as the portions are big. The house wine is good, the service friendly. What does a man want more?? Oh yes almost forgot the price-quality ratio is great….
