This review of a 1 star is for the Cashier lady named Debbie: Ive been going to this restaurant since the early 60 's and have loved it everytime Ive gone there. Breakfast is their main course and that 's what everyone usually gets.. We spent a total of close to $60.00 for 3 meals of the same choice (2 eggs, 2 pieces of toast, 2 beacon strips, and small portion of cooked potato 's) As I was paying my $60.00 for this simple meal DEBBIE asked if I wanted to add a tip to the bill, I did add a tip, and to her surprise it was too small and made it LOUD AND CLEAR TO everyone in the restaurant that I was a cheap skate (AFTER PAYING $60.00 FOR THE MEAL). I can't believe anyone can eat in a place with cockroaches crawling on the wall next to them. It made my wife sick, and she ended up throwing up in the bathroom and refusing to eat anything else. When we informed the waitress about the issue, she simply said she was busy and couldn't help. At the time of payment, she asked how much we would tip; we didn't leave any and requested a refund for my wife's meal since she got sick. The waitress responded that they couldn’t offer a refund because she had eaten some of it, claiming it was against city regulations to refund meals once they have been partially consumed! The food was poorly prepared; the potatoes were wet and soggy, the pancake had an odd flavor, and the coffee was lukewarm instead of hot. After we ate our mediocre breakfast, the typical eggs and sausage with wet potato's , not cooked, the waitress comes over for us to pay our bill and takes my card and then asks how much for a tip! I said WHAT? Ive never had anyone ask for a tip before I pay. I went ahead and said 2 bucks. A week later on my bank statement it was 5 dollars. What a joke, I contested this with my bank and they said there was nothing they could do. Stay away from this place with all measures.. Food sucks and waitress's are thieves! My family and I were looking for a local diner and popped in one morning (this was some months ago). The service was solely catered to the few regulars, and we were made to feel very unwanted. When we got our pancakes, they tasted spoiled. We then overheard that the buttermilk had gone bad. Everyone has bad days, and maybe this was the worst day to walk in because this place seems to have a lot of positive reviews. But I remembered to write a review because I'd never been treated as poorly in a diner before.
The staff at this restaurant were quite rude. They added a tip to the bill before we even paid! I tried to speak with the owner, who was sitting at a table in the back, but the cashier falsely claimed he was out shopping for groceries. The food was comparable to McDonald's, but what really bothered me was the insistence on a tip before settling the bill. When I left a $2 tip, the waitress acted like it wasn't sufficient. I won’t be coming back!
The cashier asked me how much do I want to put on the card for a tip, I told her and she gives me a dirty look like it wasn't enough. Ive never had anywhere ask for a tip before I pay, the food wasn't worth the overpriced money they charge and I suggest to stay away from this place. Ill never go back again.
