This si the best place for cocktails in Norwich. If you was classy, refined cocktails (as opposed to sugary bland fare) this is the place for you. The bartender was happy to make more obscure off-menu classic cocktails (e.g., French 75, sidecar), so if you take your cocktails seriously, you'll be well-served here. They also do table service and limit the amount of people in the bar, so no queuing and service is quick and friendly. Great stuff! The only negative would be the noise level. I'm all for having a drink in a noisy, buzzing bar, but most of the seating was directly below speakers, so that some of our group couldn't hear each other. A minor quibble. And let's be honest … if you neck a couple of these cocktails … you'll care less and less about the noise as the night goes on …
Visited last night with a friend at 6.30pm to be met at the door by a very unwelcoming security guard . He said you can’t come in if you have no booking. All four barstools were empty and so we asked if it would be possible to sit at the bar instead of a booked table. He said rather rudely there was a staff shortage and they were trying to catch up so no, we couldn’t sit at the bar. We were meeting a third friend there so asked politely if we could wait until she arrived and then head off (accepting the impossibility of a cocktail in a cocktail bar). He said no but you’re welcome to wait outside. What an absolutely dreadful impression and service.
Me and my partner visited last bank holiday weekend, we entered the premises and were told quite firmly that it was table service and that they would come and serve us, absolutely fine. We ordered 2 pints of Lager and the gentleman wanted payment there and then as we were sitting outside (Just in a case we ran off two middle aged professionals! I paid the bill Contactless and declined a receipt stupidly. The next day on my bank account I had been charged £23.30 for 2 pints of Lager, what the hell! Got completely ripped off we won’t be back
We had a great night celebrating our friends birthday. Unfortunately, the security staff made us all very uncomfortable by watching me all night. When we left, he came out to accuse me of leaving a small clear blue plastic bag in the gents toilets, detailing that it wasn't there before I went in, and was after I came out. Sorry, you've accused the wrong person, but thank you for ruining our evening. Until the security staff has been replaced with anyone that can vaguely resemble an air of competence, we won't be coming back.
