I went to Chanterelle recently on a Saturday night with a group of friends. The restaurant came highly recommended. It is a pleasant environment - very light and airy colours. The service was impeccable but the food missed the mark for me. I started with the organic green salad with heirloom tomatoes. Basically a handful of over dressed mixed greens with plain tomatoes - they were not heirloom. For the main course, I decided on the Cornish hen. It was a generous portion served with mixed vegetables and a bland scoop of scalloped potatoes. Whilst the Cornish hen tasted fine, it wasn't amazing. I tried some of my friend's courses and wasn't overly impressed with their selections as well. The seafood risotto was beautifully presented but lacked taste. Same with the penne pasta. The menu says their pastas are homemade but I doubt this. I also sampled the braised lamb shanks. Fatty piece of meat which again, lacked flavour. I skipped dessert so I cannot comment here but they did look very good. I'm giving my review 4 stars because I enjoyed the service and ambience. The food, not so much.
