Host was working on homework at podium and the other on her phone. Martini arrived very late midway through salad. The blue cheese olives tasted like they had been on the shelf for a while. Chopped Salad smelled like it came out of a bag from the grocery store. Tiny amount of blue cheese dressing. Had to wait a substantial time for more dressing, same for the au jus for prime rib. Black sea bass was okay. Meal tasted very Sysco meaning prepackaged. Lava cake amazing. Haven't been there since before pandemic. Please bring back salad bar and sourdough bread. First time dining at Chart House Dana Point. Restaurant ambiance was nice. This was a special occasion (Birthday) so I requested a window table with an ocean/harbor view. Unfortunately, we did not get a window seat. Most of the window seats are in the bar. Bar was packed for happy hour. Our table overlooked 2 tables in the bar. We did have a distant and somewhat obstructed view of the harbor/ocean. The bar and especially the couple next to us was very loud. Service was good. Food was somewhat disappointing. The herb crusted salmon was not cooked with the herb coating on the fish it was sprinkled on afterwards. If we return it will most likely be just for happy hour.
Chart house went above and beyond for our wedding anniversary! I asked for a booth with a view and that's what we got! When they handed us the menu it said at the top “happy special 3rd year anniversary from the chart house!” They rolled them up for me and tied a ribbon so I could take it home! This is our second year celebrating there and we can't wait to go back next year. The food is delicious. You can't go wrong with anything you order. Highly highly recommend! Eric was our waiter and he went above and beyond for us. Thanks chart house!
Don't usually leave reviews but had to because this was one of worst experiences we've had in a restaurant...ever. Horrible rude host, didn't acknowledge us for 20 minutes. Manager was rude and unprofessional when we approached her about our reservation and being seated. We left after waiting 30 minutes and had a great dinner at another restaurant in Dana Point. Don't bother with this tired old chain, there are a lot of other great dining experiences out there that will make the money spent worth it.

There was a wedding party so the parking was my easy but that was the only less than perfect thing I can say about our dinner at The Chart House. I took my friend from back east and 2 ladies from Australia to share the beautiful views and atmosphere. They stopped dead in their tracks when they a saw the view from our table! The food never fails and not feeling rushed add for a wonderful experience. We will be back!.
The Chart House is a classic, timeless restaurant that never ages with its amazing views cozy vibe. That said, we had a strange server girl who seemed to be hitting on my son's wife thruout the evening. That should stop. A classic but modern Frank Lloyd Wright like architecture in the context of spectacular California coastal views over Dana Point, personalized inclusive service, and food prepared and presented within a five star spectrum of gastronomy! Highly recommended! Allen and Sherry Taylor
The only thing we can complain about is the speed of the service. I think that was related to people not showing up for shifts but that is routine for some people these days. It's too bad. Food was great. Location was great. Happy we came again. Will be back.

we go here every year when visiting SoCal. This year I tried the salmon instead of coconut shrimp. It was delicious. Will always order that from now on. Service was friendly and attentive. Everything was fine
