Great news, Domont is under new management and back to its old glory. Only open Friday to Sunday but we were there for a wonderful lazy lunch yesterday. Instead of being told to go away as with the last team, there is a huge Welcome sign on the lawn and the whole place was buzzing with activity. They brought us to our table and the manager came out to shake hands and welcome us this despite being very very busy. The incredible surroundings have even been improved upon. There has always been the great views and the shade of the huge trees around the outside of the castle now they have added lots of animals and activities for kids to enjoy. You can also see that the fruit trees on the lawn below have been getting some love. Have a long sunny lunch on the lawn while your kids play with children from the other tables (there 's a climbing frame and toy house and lots of other toys), or feed the goats and rabbits. Our meal was unpretentious but very good I had a salad to start, fillet mignon with mushrooms, fresh veg and spaetzli and some ice cream for dessert. There is a small kids menu with chips, a home made breaded pork fillet or ham. Good selection of wines. It is simple family restauration. But Domont has always been about the location. Walk out to it through the forest or fields with family or friends and enjoy the beautiful Jura hills, the view and the castle and thank the stars above that they never managed to turn it into a golf course.
As you approach the old chateau you would be excused for expecting quite and exceptional setting it is not every day that one lunches in a chateau. The ambience is therefore a little disappointing rustic and casual rather than palatial. But food and service were good. A excellent perche meuniere accompanied by exceptional fried potatoes. This is preceded by a simple mixed salad in a tasty, tangy vinaigrette. As mentioned, service was good and very friendly, though we did have to wait a long time for our bill and remind our waitress. Good value for Switzerland.
Beautifully located restaurant, certainly good, but unfortunately the service leaves something to be desired. I was there a week ago and there were a lot of people but I was served within 5 minutes, today I left again after 30 minutes without consuming anything. The service staff visited the table behind me several times and also other guests who came after me
We were driving around Jura region, and were looking for a quiet spot to have a cup of coffee, when we saw the sign for Domont Restaurant.. we drove out the few kilometers, just to be turned away at the door if we don't want to eat a meal, we do not get in despite the restaurant being completely empty. Arrogance in the first degree.
