Chateau De Locguenole

Small and comfortable restaurant. We were on a deal which involved a 3 course meal with wines. The fois gras starter with citrus presented the kind of challenge which I occasionally enjoy at high end restaurants – extremely well executed but you are not sure whether you like it or not. The cod main course was described by my wife as the best fish dish she had ever eaten. The bread and butter served throughout was outstanding. I really enjoyed the wine pairings chosen by the lady sommelier (sommelière? all of which matched the dishes perfectly. Service was great, led by a lady who spoke impeccable English having worked for several years at Gidleigh Park. Overall, I enjoyed this meal a lot more than I thought I was going to. Enchanted parenthesis! The customer experience is incredible, well beyond our expectations for a 4 star. Everything is just perfect, from the arrival (a big thank you to the gentleman who welcomed us this Monday July 8) in this magnificent place, through the cocktails in the bar, the dishes and the service (professional while being very warm) of the bistro restaurant, ending with breakfast where nothing is missing (special mention for the delicious homemade spread). The bedroom was very clean. We were also able to enjoy the spa, the indoor swimming pool is very pleasant as are the sauna and hammam. I loved the facial treatment, very relaxing. Thank you to the whole team for a wonderful, refreshing stay! We will come back without hesitation.

A wonderful moment that I was able to experience yesterday for my birthday. Each dish was a fireworks display for the taste buds, a painting for the eyes...all this in a green setting and a magnificent restaurant. The staff was very accommodating. I had the image of little bees in a hive: work well done without stress with lots of kindness and attention while constantly keeping a smile. Thank you for all the work done. Congratulations to the chef and his brigade who created tasty dishes. I hope that a star will quickly come to attach itself to The Unexpected to continue to put stars in everyone 's eyes...

Delicious treatment of local produce and regional specialties, whether for dinner or at breakfast. Since my husband can eat nothing that ever swam, he had their veal dish twice and their beef rossini and the lamb, which was particularly good. I had the St. Pierre which was so exquisite, I ordered it nearly every night!

Staying at this chateau was a memorable experience made special by the quality of the meal and the superb service. The room was wonderful, spacious and well appointed and the staff were attentive but not intrusive. An excellent place to stay and dine.
