It was a dark and stormy night when the 3 of us went here on the last Thursday in November. In fact, if we hadn't booked the weekend before we wouldn't have gone out anywhere that night, but Thursday is the night this restaurant has the fish buffet which had been recommended to us by a friend. We were the first people to arrive, just before 8pm and hoped we would not be the only people brave enough to go out that night, because inside the building it is pleasantly palatial, with lovely simple decor, barrel arched roofs and a piano in one corner. The man that met us was a very cheerful chap with a welcoming, relaxed style. He told us the buffet of hot and cold seafood would soon be available...
We were staying just outside the village of Salinelles and this restaurant was recommended, so we decided to visit for a special lunch on the last day of our holiday. The weather was sunny and very hot, and we sat outside in the pretty courtyard under large parasols. The setting of the ancient buildings and surrounding views over the l'Occitane countryside were delightful. We chose from the 29 Euros set menu which comprised a three course lunch plus a carafe of house rose (which was crisp and fresh tasting), all served with nutty, rustic, crusty bread. There were a variety of choices and the food was rich and very French! I had fresh anchovies to start, followed by salmon, then poached fresh...
Nous étions 8 amis à déjeuner au château. Apéritifs dans la cour, suivi d'un déjeuner en 3 plats. Le menu était bien pensé : salade de chèvre ou thon grillé suivi de haddock ou filet mignon et une délicieuse glace au citron pour terminer un délicieux repas. La serveuse était souriante et très efficace. Dans l'ensemble, une bonne expérience.
