This is a simple review but there's nothing simple about Chavez Supermarket Taqueria on Fifth and El Camino, in Redwood City. The store is huge, very clean and organized. When you walk in you'll notice what I noticed. I go for the food. It's good, authentic and fast. I usually buy mine as a take-out, but there's tables if you choose to eat there. Prices are moderate but which local isn't these days recovering from lean years and prices for goods skyrocketing. This place is worth stopping at, especially if you need items to cook at home or stock your pantry.
Wing last week there for a few things and a bite for dinner. I was overcharged $3 on Burrito $14 for a regular Burrito! , I became 2.99/lb for some small bananas marked at 1.69/lb in the production department. And their house tortilla chips are good. But the price is not marked in the gang, possibly because it $6 for a little pound bag! 2 stars for the Salsas that are very good. The Burrito was mediocre and almost $15 not worth it.
They are over charging/price gouging in their taqueria since it's close to Atherton and Menlo Park 15$ for a super burrito which I don't mind paying for if the was a decent portion of meat in it. The last few times their burritos are mainly rice and beans with the usual accoutrements with a very small portion of meat. Redwood City has plenty of other taquerias that don't charge as much and you actually get serving of meat in it.
Yeh, no they charge u for a Super Burrito but comes out lookin as a Regular Burrito go to Chavez on Arguello a real Super Burrito or a real Taqueria since there's plenty in Redwood City.

I ordered nachos and what I got is not even close to nachos, lots of fried beans but just a sprinkle of some white cheese that is not the right choice for the nachos.
Everybody's always so nice. If you need help to find something, just contact someone who works there and they can tell you exactly where it is, even take it.
Food was delicious , ordering was super fast , they do catering for small to big gatherings.
Well looks like my dentist fees are coming out of my own pocket. Proceed with caution.
