So you 've just driven a 6 hour journey after a great sejour in France to catch the ferry to Cork; tempers are frayed, tensions are high, everyone is hangry. The children ask can we eat in a restaurant? . All you want is 'grub and go ', no patience left to negotiate yet another restaurant table, decipher the menu, order in French and hope that everyone enjoys their choices. We trawl through the web, decide on a possible solution, turn a corner off the Ferry Port and quelle surprise , arrive in the most beautiful, chilled out area in Roscoff, the pier. Restaurants don 't open until 7pm and our first choice is fully booked (make a mental note to pre-book should I travel this route again). Parked up, we walk a little further into the town and hit on a pizza restaurant. The staff recognise our weary body language and show us to a table. We take an exterior table as the sun is shining and the weather just bordering on cool. Sighs of relief all round, mission accomplished. Travellers gradually arrive with children and beloved dogs and all are made feel welcome. Soon the exterior is buzzing with people exchanging friendly glances and conversation about their observations during their stay in France and mainland Europe. We order pizza and pasta. The pizza base is superb with an extremely light, crispy dough. It 's wafer thin with a lovely texture. We forgive them the slightly charred crust. This is the result of a 'master baker ' at work. The toppings are much and varied...I went for the Merguez but it was nicer without the lamb sausage slices. The smoked salmon pasta was proficient. The children polished off their desserts, creme brulee and ananas melba. The staff were very attentive despite being very busy. They were friendly and efficient, gave us an opportunity to order in French or English and seemed to accommodate diners ' needs who were looking for take-away options or a quick exit to appease very young children. A meal for two adults and two children was good value. We left this bustling restaurant thinking Roscoff would be a nice spot to explore for a weekend visit. Feeling less stressed, satiated and re-booted, we made our way to the ferry sailing to Cork which was departing at 11pm. A satisfying end to an enjoyable holiday in La France.

Really lovely atmospheric spot with friendly staff and great food. We had excellent pizzas. The desserts on another table looked wonderful but alas we had a boat to catch. We will be back when we next cross on the Plymouth Roscoff ferry.
