We made reservations on a friend's recommendation, as part of our quest to eat dishes specific to Les îles de la Madeleine, this being our Pot en pot stop. We arrived, the restaurant is in the front of a very Grand Property on the hill, we were...seated in the smaller of the 2 rooms, a very quaint setting. They have English and French menus we usually get one of each as sometimes things are lost in translation, our server was friendly and bilingual. We dined here several times while we were staying in the attached Bed Breakfast (also well recommended). The menu offers a good selection of seafood and turf dishes, so we had a chance to try several dishes. The braised seal appetizer was excellent; it...is worth trying, as seal has long been an important part of Madelinot economy and culture, and this dish is a good introduction. My partner and I celebrated a birthday one evening at this restaurant which had been recommended by a resident of Havre-Aubert. The resto is part of an auberge which is located in a lovely historical building just before you enter La Grave. My companion’s entré...of scallops and main dish of mackerel were quite good. My bouillabaisse was essentially a fish broth (that was tasty) with a few mussels, some scallops, a whitefish, and two pieces of lobster, one of which had not been shelled properly. The Inn has recently been completely renovated and has a rich history. Our room was very comfortable, with a bar fridge, and room 103 had a beautiful view of the water. Despite arriving late at 8 o'clock in the middle of dinner service, Etienne effortlessly welcomed us and checked us in. He was very knowledgeable and helpful with all of our requests, making our stay even more enjoyable. Each morning, we were greeted by Annie Kim at the breakfast restaurant with sunshine and delicious options to choose from. On our last day, we had to catch an early ferry, and Etienne kindly provided us with a packed breakfast to take with us. This thoughtful gesture added an extra touch to an already wonderf... The owner, Francine, greets customers warmly at this restaurant. The cozy rooms are well-equipped with excellent bed linens that are very comfortable and firm. The restaurant offers excellent value, especially the pot en pot, a delicious local seafood specialty. The staff is friendly, helpful, and resource-saving. I will definitely return on my next trip to the island. One note: there were construction works happening during my visit, causing noise and disturbances. It would have been nice to be informed about this in advance.

The restaurant, located in a Canary yellow building from the 19th century, offers breathtaking views. The two interior rooms are painted white, lacking character and history. Despite pictures showing colorful bed linens, they were not present during our dinner. The service was satisfactory, but the quality of the food and atmosphere were average. As a group of six, we were able to try everything on the menu. Unfortunately, Denis á François does not offer the same exquisite dining options found on these beautiful islands.

Our dinner started with an overly-fishy amuse-bouche that impaled the taste buds; the experience didn't improve much from there. I've had many excellent Bouillabaisse; the one at Chez Denis a Francois wasn't one of them. It lacked, seasoning and the clear broth was flavourless. There...was a couple of good dishes; the Scallops with Pernod and Pot-en-pot were quite good. All said, the pretense and price point didn't get delivered to the plate.

We stopped there and were hoping to have something for lunch but the welcome was not there and the person who came out of the kitchen to greet us said that the lunch menu was very limited... Obviously, she was relieved when she saw us...leave without inquiring any further. Thanks to that unfortunate experience we had a chance to discover a fabulous Vent du Large Réservez une table maintenant

We appreciated the location and decor. We visited their web site and were sold! The photographs of the food were so good that I ordered a dish that was displayed. Unfortunately, it looked the same, but did not taste as described :

Very fresh food, great selection of high quality foods. First you might think that the place is expensive, but no quality is unbeatable
