As a big fan of the Chicago Deep Plate pizza, it was unfortunately not. Had high hopes, as this restaurant was very recommended by a friend, and perhaps it was great at a time, but fans of The Office will understand when I...say it was pizza by Alfredo and NOT Alfredo's Pizza Cafe (based on a hot mess. If you like cheese and sauce, it might be your thing. For me, pizza in Chicago style is literally a cake. Maybe it was too hot when they put it on the table, but it literally looked like a plain cheese and sauce FLAT pizza with a 2 inch high crust on the sides and I don't remember seeing a dough covering the top. Or maybe it was there and it was lost in the extra can of sauce and block of chee...
A friend told me about Chicago Style Pizza about 5 years ago. I tried it as my birthday dinner. I come back every year. I lived in Chicago for a year and a half when I was young and THIS pizza is what I remember...from those days. Pricey? Maybe for us common folks but not really if you think of the ingredients you get. Flavor is outstanding. I always do take out and have only had to wait once because I was early. I call in my order and today I gave a pick up time. It was ready to go when I got there 5 minutes early. Service is always congenial given how busy they are. I have only ever gotten the pizza but hubby wants to try the spaghetti next time. See you next year for my birthday!!!
Picked up order #130003 of a large Vongole small vongole and caesar salad. The pasta could have been been primo $1 a can sauce with a small portion of a can of clams, although my small portion only had 1/2 a clam. It was...accompanied by a sub bun which has to be minimum of 3-4 days old, judging by the sound when hit on the table. Costs have increased exponentially while quality has drastically decreased. It seriously would have been more flavourful to boil some pasta with a jar or sauce!
Went with my dad after a Ticats game recently. Great food and service. Clean and welcoming atmosphere. My father had a chicken and pasta dish with garden salad, very tasty. I had a big penne of meat sauce. the great IS great, fantastic portions for... the price of 11 dollars!! I would recommend the spaghetti over the penne, although with the meat sauce. Overall, AMAZING food, great service, and just one of my favorite places to eat in Hamilton.
I dont eat here often. Although I enjoyed the stuffed pizza we ordered recently, personally I didn't care for the flavor of the pizza sauce. I dont know if it has changed or if my memory is just playing games with me. Dont get me...wrong, it wasn't horrible and we ate every bite. We would eat here again, it just wasn't as good as I remembered it.
Excellent pizza, but pricy. A 12 disc could cost 35-40, so try to order special night on their pizza. The pasta dishes are excellent, but a little pricy for this kind of ma and Pa restaurant. Portions are a little big and could be divided...if your not huge eaters.
