This place used to be the best in St Helens. Its gone really downhill in the last 2 years. I went to the one in Westfield Street last week and it was awful. The chips were weird and sponge like, fish was very greasy and tasted very cheap quality. Last night Mother wanted fish and chips for tea so I thought I would give it another go. We went to the Fingerpost branch. This was just as bad. The staff had no manners, were bad mouthing another member of staff who wasnt there in front of all the customers, the fish was horrible and swimming in grease despite it being draining out on the rack for a good 5 minutes. I am convinced this is the cheaper Catfish or Cobbler alternative passed off as Cod....
Fresh and good food, nice curry sauce but after lockdown i think it changed slightly, or maybe it just was a bad batch that day. What is worse is that they are clearly not internet minded at all!Its been 3 times now when I checked google, checked fb and it said it was open, so made my way to the chippy to find it closed! And mostly those were Saturdays! How hard it is to put something on FB that you wont open??? My frustration has led to never come back again...
Absolutely awful, chips were stewed and brown, all soggy and limp yet still undercooked. Pie was freezing cold. I cannot believe how downhill this place has gone since my last visit. It used to be the best chippy in St Helens but now it clearly isn't, what a shame. I would not recommend and will not return. Sorry Chipmunk, but I have to be honest so others don't waste their hard earned money on inedible cold food
My family were travelling to 4 Acre via Thatto heath we decided to give Chipmunk a try BIG MISTAKE compared to local chippy in 4 Acre we were robbed I ordered a sausage dinner universally this is chips, peas ,gravy a sausage the portions were small expensive and what happened to the peas they were totally missing with hindsight I should have carried on and gone to 4 Acre I will NOT use chipmunk again Réservez une table maintenant
Number 1) They didn’t pack my Coke Can and apparently Uber Eats won’t refund for this order even though I didn’t even receive it. Number 2) Chips were barely cooked, smothered in oil and were just wet. What happened to crispy chips? Number 3) Mushy peas were watered down and inedible. The biggest waste of money. I want a full refund so please contact me ASAP.
