Chipsmiths Fish Chips

An absolutely first class fish and chip shop. Des, who does the frying, has perfected his craft; the fish is always flaky, never greasy, and the chips are as good as you’ll ever find. Mary, who is front of house, is always smiling and ready to have a chat. Service is quick and prices are very reasonable given the quality of the product. I always order in advance to beat the queues and travel past several other chippies to get here; I simply wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else. Long live Chipsmiths!

Our favourite take away. They have worked so hard to stay open during these uncertain times, with brilliant social distancing measures. You can order in advance on Saturday nights, and must on Fridays. The food is freshly cooked, never sat sitting waiting to be sold in grease. The haddock is always delicious. It tastes great and the service is as friendly as ever.

I went to Chipsmiths this evening and bought haddock and chips for one. It was the very best F C I have had in years. The service was excellent, with a smile, and my dinner was really great. Thanks to the owners I really needed that today!

Been visiting for over 10 years. Mary Des are great, friendly and really value their regular customers. Food is always fresh and of a high standard. Portion sizes are decent and some good variety beyond fish for those who don't eat it. Réservez une table maintenant

The staff is always friendly and the fish and chips are consistently delicious. This take-away has been our go-to for a weekly Saturday treat since the March 2020 lockdown. We always look forward to our order each week.

I have no doubt the fish and chip shop is good but for me they could not provide gluten free chips as they cooked everything in same fryer. I understood that but sad i could not have chips.

First visit today. Will NOT be my last. Gorgeous, flaky white cod, perfectly cooked. Great sausages. Nice chips. Sensible CoVid precautions in place. A really excellent find.
