Been eating here off and on for five years. Under new ownership, and it shows. In a GOOD way! Bright (the shades were raised and clean (used to be so grimy and a fresh new menu. No more pizza oven- the focus now on more diner fare. We had wings (meaty and mostly flats and a good Rueben sandwich (quality, tasty meat, needed more butter on the breadif I go for a Rueben, it should taste like I’m cheating! . My kids loved the fries, which were hot and crispy. Simple cheese quesadilla. We’ll get more adventurous with our order next time. I liked the new menu, which paid homage to its Valatie roots. I ordered a turkey club without tomatoes for the first time, and after removing the tomatoes, it was pretty good. However, when I tried to order a second time, they didn't have any turkey and were quite rude after keeping me on hold for ten minutes, so I ended up ordering from another place. For a third attempt, I ordered the turkey club along with mac and cheese. Unfortunately, what I received was a soggy turkey sandwich and the worst mac and cheese I've ever tasted. I ended up throwing it away, and even the staff at the shop wouldn't eat it. I'm not sure how this place stays in business. I won't be returning—this has been a disappointing experience.
I visited Chris’s Cafe this evening after work to enjoy some dessert, and I was thoroughly impressed! They had three different flavors of cupcakes available, so I decided to buy one of each. The pumpkin cupcake, topped with cinnamon frosting, was absolutely divine. The Black Forest cupcake was just as delightful, featuring a cherry-filled center and rich frosting. The vanilla cupcake, filled with strawberries, was equally amazing. I can confidently say that I was beyond satisfied, and I truly hope they keep selling these scrumptious cupcakes because I will definitely be back for more soon!
I too was very disappointed with Chris' since it was sold to new owners. My son-in-law warned me that he had gotten a pizza since it changed hands and it was terrible. My wife and I decided we'd still give them a try and ordered the athenian pizza which was always so good. Neither my wife nor I could eat it. We ended up giving it to our pot belly pig. Food was disgusting. The four cheese mac n cheese tasted like rotten milk n garbage, idk if it was the cheese or it was bad. I threw it out. Pulled pork had bones in it n some pieces of meet were so hard it hurt my mouth, also threw away. New owners are running it in to the ground. Stay clear. Not impressed by the food. Ordered a pizza for my kids and myself and the waitstaff never brought plates. And when asked for plates they put them on the table like it was an inconvenience will not return unfortunately. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $10–20
