If I lived in the Crescent City, I would be eating here all.the.time. I've lived in Alexandria, Egypt twice, and this food fills a fül sized hole in my soul, while also being distinctly of New Orleans. The addition of hot sauce to the foul medames is brilliant, and the pepper oil in the tzatziki is flat-out inspired. In Egypt these foods would have been complemented with flavors that one can't always find in the US, so in true immigrant-fashion, they're spun into flavors from the local area. I would have been happy to eat this on my balcony in Sporting, two blocks from the tram, and I'm delighted to eat them on Canal, right beside the street car! Order a bunch of mezzes and enjoy the vision of the chef. شكرا!

Just got kudsia and haloumi via uber. I've had both from Cleo's many times. Solid No. The kudsia normally had actual beans from the foul. This was a puree of whatever with a pool of tahini on top. Mixed it all up and the tahini ruined it. Just tasted like sesame seed paste. The haloumi was maybe worse? Hard to guage. It was thinly sliced. Almost deli style. It was about half the cheese they used to serve and, because it was so thin, no chew or flavor of the cheese, just the seasoning. I know it's Mardi gras and volume is crazy but to drop your standards so very much is gross. And that's me assuming it's because of Mardi gras and that this is not your new norm. Do better.

Kitchen is in the back of a storefront on Canal St. It's not easy to find unless you know where to look. Decent Mediterranean food but, a little pricey.
