I was really disappointed by our experience here last night because I was really looking forward to coming here. We were seated at a table right off the bar and not a single person came to greet us for atleast 15 minutes and I had to flag them down. They all saw us sitting there, the two lady bartenders and the one guy just kept making drinks and just walking right past us. Once I flagged them down it took another ten minutes for the guy to come over, bring us water and menus. Once we ordered the food came pretty quickly but no one came to check on us. Again, I had to flag down one of the lady bartenders. I ordered a steak medium well. My steak was sent back because it was basically bleeding...
To start, Cliffs has always been a personal favorite. Perfect little jazz location with a “home” feel and great music and food. I’m not sure if they’ve changed management but New Year’s Eve was definitely a disappointing experience. Coming in with a steep $300 price tag per couple for a 4 course meal, we certainly expected better. Upon arriving at 8:30 we waited 15 minutes just to get water. Our first dish took almost an hour to get and we finally received our main course at 10:50 pm after flagging down a worker we hadn’t received our meal. There was NO ORGANIZATION and we didn’t have a set server. This is pretty disappointing when you spend $300 for what’s supposed to be a “top notch” New Y...
After reading the food reviews, I almost didn’t go here, but my date wanted to try it, so we had dinner last night. I was skeptical about the food, so I only ordered a burger. The burger was good, but was done medium rare, which may not be to everyone’s liking. I wasn’t asked how I wanted it done, so I assumed it would be medium, but it was pretty red. We split the deviled eggs, which were amazing and I had a wedge salad. For a $14 wedge salad, I would have liked a little more blue cheese, bacon and dressing. There was very little with the lettuce. My date had the squash which I tried and it was very good. Overall, it was much better than I was expecting, and I would go back. I’d give it 4.5...
The ambience is like no other...the food and drinks are reasonably priced and delicious, the service is first class, and the entertainment is A1! I've seen various jazz groups perform and they ALL deliver a spectacular performance! As a Detroit native I suggest that everyone experience the legendary Cliff Bells for an unforgettable night of enjoyment and fun!
another great evening here. read the layers and look at the history of this place and the responsible one. the bar employees mix like art and serve with a smile and a great story. music and artists are like no other. to sit, relax, enjoy a drink and watch how their artistry live in front of them is simply the best when in detroit, time to visit cliff Bell’s.
