The sorullos aren't made fresh; I can buy a pack of 24 at ShopRite in Perth Amboy for just $2.99, yet here they charge $1 each—six for $5.99! They look identical to the ones from ShopRite. As for the Rellenos de Papa, they're priced at $2.99 each—what a joke! Even a simple canoa costs $6.99—are they serious? This place gives you a ton of food and for a decent price. I got it delivered and they marked every container which was well received. Unfortunately, I was not able to get the fresh taste as in the restaurant due to the delivery circumstances. I would have had the mofongo if I ate at the restaurant. Nonetheless, the rice was dry on the top due to delivery but the bottom of the rice was good (not great). Likewise, the pernil was plentiful but lacked flavor in my opinion. I just tried this restaurant for the first time tonight, and even though I'm not usually a big fan of takeout—especially for this type of cuisine—my wife and I were thoroughly impressed. We had high hopes for this restaurant, but it turned out to be a bit disappointing. The beef empanadas were delicious, but the other dishes we ordered didn't taste fresh at all. The shrimp mofongo was dry and overpowered by raw garlic. The chuletas seemed pre-cooked and simply fried just to reheat, resulting in them being overcooked and too salty. Unfortunately, the tostones also missed the mark, lacking any real flavor.

Food is delicious and flavorful, I am picky with my Pernil but this place does it right. The young boy and girl who often work the front are so generous and I’ve seen them first hand go out of their way to make customers comfortable and happy while they wait. I even saw the young boy run and hold the door open for an older man. Made my night! 5 stars
I first visited this restaurant several times when it first opened, and the food was acceptable. However, I decided to give it another chance tonight, and it just wasn't good. The tostones tasted stale and were drenched in oil, while the alcapurrias were also overly oily and lacked flavor.
As a Puerto Rican woman with a strong culinary background, I can confidently say that Cocina Borinqua serves outstanding food. If you're in search of genuine Puerto Rican cuisine, this is the place to go.
The food was amazing—served hot and bursting with flavor. It was deliciously moist, and I will definitely be ordering from this restaurant again!
