Where to start. It’s probably best to look at the photos tbh. The ‘poppadoms and pickle tray’ was this abomination of a poppadom. Minus a pickle tray. The bhatooray (naan) was a laughable mess of half cooked whatever. The dried beef….well. Extra naan didn’t turn up. The food arrived half cold. This entire tray of food was £56. No doubt there will be a reply saying ‘we’re sorry you didn’t enjoy your food blah blah blah’ but sending this shambles out for £56 is a joke. Basically, go somewhere else.
We first encountered the Coconut Lagoon when they catered for a friend’s party. The food was amazing Not your typical Indian menu. We have been getting takeaways from there ever since. Last night was the first time we had eaten in the restaurant. We had an excellent and very knowledgeable waiter (Joshua) who advised us and made recommendations. The food was delicious and we will return. In the meantime we will continue to buy our takeaways from there. This is a very special place.
I had an amazing time at this Kerala restaurant! The authentic flavors of Duck Mappas, Palappam, and Lagoon Sadya were absolutely delicious. The atmosphere enhanced the overall experience, and the attentive staff made the dining experience even more enjoyable. I would definitely suggest trying the incredible Prawns Fry—it's a fantastic appetizer that you won't forget.
We chose this restaurant out of the many whilst visiting York for its excellent reviews, 5 star hygiene rating, its presentation of the food, which was different to main stream Indian food and tasted delicious. Our young waiter, Joshua, is a credit to the business, he was very friendly and we enjoyed chatting with him.

Great evening meal with family at the Coconut Lagoon very handily situated just over the road from Union Terrace Car Park. A very varied menu, which our charming waiter, Joshua, guided us through. Great food, great service. Would highly recommend a visit.
What a wonderful dining experience! The staff were incredibly courteous and helpful, offering great menu suggestions. The food was outstanding with amazing flavors. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting York.
