If you enjoy authentic Indian food and excellent hospitality, then Color of Spices in Rockville Centre needs to be on your go to list. The decor is traditional Indian and makes you feel like you stepped into Mumbai. The aromas and foods served were excellently prepared and ample portioned. For starters, we ordered the Vegetable Samosa A small triangular pastry filled with spiced potatoes and peas, the Assorted Vegetable Platter A delicious assortment of vegetable samosa, vegetable pakora, alu ki tiki, and three baskets of Naan bread plain, garlic, and rosemary. We chose this restaurant for a birthday dinner, excited by the detailed and appealing menu. However, upon arrival, we were underwhelmed. While the decor was nice, the place felt outdated and uncomfortably warm, as if the air conditioning wasn’t working. Our server for the table of six was unhelpful and didn’t clearly explain the dishes. The food itself was average with small portions. I won’t be returning or ordering from here again and wouldn’t recommend dining in. I noticed many delivery orders, which might be a better option. Fortunately, I didn’t take any photos as the presentation wasn’t impressive.
On October 11, 2022, ordered 9 items for lunch. After spending $130.48 on food in total, If one won't get delicious food, really very disappointing. Chana Saag, not up to the mark Mutter Paneer, like cooked in milk Vegetable Jhalfrezi, Salt inexcess Yellow Dal Tadka, had to redo again to get some taste I don't know how freshly made all the Naans, Kulcha and Roti. Rotiwas too hard like cardboard. Sorry, very very bad experience. Restaurants credibility depends on the taste of food.
On October 11, 2022, I ordered nine items for lunch and spent $130.48, but I was quite disappointed with the food. The Chana Saag didn’t match the authentic taste of Mother Paneer, the Vegetable Jhalfrezi was overly salty, and the Yellow Dal Tadka lacked freshness. While the Naans, Kulcha, and Roti were freshly made, the Roti was unfortunately as hard as cardboard. Overall, it was a poor experience, as a restaurant’s reputation depends heavily on the quality of its food.

My daughter and I dined here for the first time and truly enjoyed our experience. The restaurant’s decor was lovely and modern, contrary to another review we saw. The service was outstanding. We ordered the curry chicken, curry shrimp, naan, and chickpea fritters, and everything was delicious. The portions were generous, and we even took some home. Overall, the menu is great, the food is excellent, and the service top-notch. We will definitely be coming back.
The food at Color Of Spices is fantastic. The meat is top quality, and the spices are perfectly balanced—not too strong. It offers an authentic, traditional flavor that I really enjoy. I will certainly be ordering from here again. The only downside is that the cooking time for orders is quite long.
Amazing food, quality meat, the spices are perfect and not too American Indian. It definitely comes with a more traditional taste and flavor. I love this place and will continue to order from here. My ONLY gripe is that they're very very slow to cookthe orders.
I visited Color Of Spices for lunch today. The Lamb Kebab and Goat Curry were perfectly cooked, with the curry having just the right level of spiciness. The portions felt a bit small for the price, but considering it’s located in RVC, it's understandable.
