My husband and I dined with two other couples last Saturday at Colore Italian and enjoyed such a wonderful evening! I had made reservations a week or more in advance, making a special request for one of the round booth tables. The owner (and completely gracious host , in every sense of the word) made note of my special request while acknowledging the 2 sold out shows at Swallow Hill that evening. Nevertheless, when we arrived for our evening, he had arranged things in his very busy restaurant so that we could enjoy conversation at the round table that I had hoped for. And then the food! Solid Italian restaurant. Lobster ravioli was very good. Shrimp was cooked well. Braised meatballs were cooked well but a little too heavy on the oregano for my liking. Enjoyed the focaccia bread although the pieces are pretty small. Good lasagna Bolognese. Nice that they put a good amount of ground beef in there. Ground beef was fairly tender which is hard to find with ground beef. Marinara sauce was pretty good. A little on the bland side. This restaurant was undoubtedly the highlight of our visit to Denver. The food was exquisite, and our waiter was quite a character. He kept me informed about the Rangers game while managing to refill our drinks, and he genuinely engaged with us throughout our meal. It was a fantastic experience. Despite the restaurant being busy on a Tuesday night, we never felt rushed. We started with the calamari, which we couldn't get enough of, and the main courses were equally impressive. My new favorite restaurant! I love the Cobb salad and the cheese ravioli; they’re my top choices. The salad is consistently fresh, and the sauce for the ravioli is just incredible! This is the best Italian food I've had in a long time. The sauce was just right, the shrimp was cooked to perfection, and the flavors were spot on. It would be nice to see a larger beer selection, but if Italian cuisine is their main focus, they've truly excelled. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
We had a wonderful date night! Despite the snowy weather outside, the atmosphere inside was cozy and welcoming. The food was excellent, and there are so many more dishes on the menu that we want to try. Next time, we'll definitely leave some extra space for dessert!
