That was our bad food. We've never seen so many customers go early. There was only one waiter, we imagine that he was abandoned by other employees, but that was not said. We were not offered a wine card, but we managed to get two glasses of house wine in dirty glasses. Starters reasonable. Main course of lamb release cold. Started our meal at 7.30 and waited for uneven main course to be removed at 9 a.m. Wait very rude when we told him why we couldn't eat food. Like all other diners, we left in front of the desert, although nobody could actually order, because the had long waited lost interest.
It was one of the coldest days and was way too cold to sit by the windows to enjoy the view. Nice looking room though. The food tasted very nice, and the chef agreed to grill us some vegetables as the cold salad buffet wasn't appealing having come in from biting, snow laden winds. I wonder if the kitchen should have anticipated the weather and popped some potatoes in the oven to supplement the cold salad buffet? Unfortunately what drags the whole experience down is the awful service; long waits and forgotten orders. I'm afraid I won't be returning.
The hotel manor house and the surroundings are beautiful, staff were very polite but unfortunately not all staff are competent, bar staff not really sure the difference between one wine and another , evening meal was okay bit over priced as were the drinks and the selection was poor, breakfast was lovely once it finally arrived , staff failed to take our order to the kitchen the first time and another member of staff decided to clear our table before my partner had finished breakfast, I would visit again hoping all the issues can be sorted .
We had a Sunday dinner for four people booked it in advance and the venue was spectacular. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We could eat inside or outside and see the beautiful landscape from any situation. The one and only drawback was if you expect a full fleshy Sunday roast, this is not the menu for you. For us I have to say that our joy didn't work a bit and the food was healthy and tasteful.

The restaurant offers a limited selection of options for dinner, with small portion sizes. While it's great that they use all organic, local produce, their attempts at being too creative with traditional dishes could be improved upon. Overall, there is room for improvement.
They were trialling a new menu, unfortunately. The starter was tastless and the salmon had slimy skin left on it. Both our steaks had to be sent back as they were cremated. Last course of cheese was very good but easily done. Waiting staff and location excellent, however.
Second time there and both excellent. Relaxed atmosphere with good service. Superbly cooked food, great vegetarian options. Wonderful hotel too. Will return
I never leave reviews, but this place was so bad I feel compelled! Terrible about expensive meal!
