This goat cheese salad was extremely disappointing. There was hardly any goat cheese and the portion size was small for the price of nearly £10. The service was also lacking, with not enough staff attending to outdoor diners. Despite requesting a refill for the dog water bowl, it took a long time for it to be brought and for our orders to be taken. While I usually try to support independent restaurants, this place needs to improve their training and prioritize customer service. Additionally, the café felt overcrowded with tables, and we noticed other customers who arrived after us being served much quicker.
While staying in Cardiff for the night, we were searching for a breakfast spot near the bay and came across The Galley. What a gem! The breakfast was fantastic, with a variety of options beyond the traditional fry up, such as burritos and Eggs Hebridean (similar to Eggs Benedict but with black pudding instead of ham/bacon), which was delicious. There are a few customer parking spaces available, or you can use the pay and display lot nearby. The restaurant has limited indoor and outdoor seating, and is conveniently located by a picturesque marina for a post-meal stroll. Highly recommend checking it out!
We visited Penarth from Toronto, Canada. We were walking down in the marina and decided to try this lovely cafe. It is a smaller space but they had good amount of room for the 4 adults plus a toddler. The server was very friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious. Three of us had the breakfast with the most delicious sausage. The other order was the salmon scramble which was gorgeously plated with vine tomatoes. Blown away by the meal! Also the coffee was the best we had on our trip! Wish we had time to go again but we are headed now for London. We hope to come again!
Walked from Cardiff Bay to Penarth with my wife and grand daughter and came across The Galley . We all had a drink and something to eat. The Galley is a very smart Café with very friendly staff and excellent food and service and prices. We all enjoyed the various food and drinks that we had. We then walked back to Cardiff Bay talking along the way about how good the café was. If you are on a visit to Penarth or ever walk from Cardiff Bay to Penarth, you must stop at the Galley.

This restaurant is a hidden gem! The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating, and the menu caters to everyone in our family, whether they are omnivores, vegetarians, or vegans. Every dish we've sampled has been both fresh and delicious, made with high-quality ingredients and served with delicious locally-sourced bread.
What a find!! Did a Google search for a dog friendly cafe around Penarth. This came up so thought we would try it! Excellent food, really tasty, great value with friendly staff. Our first visit but definitely not our last.

Great food and service, just the best you can get with local produce and a smile from the owners. Just go there, you will definitely not be disappointed.
On recommendation of a friend of mine we visited the Galley. Good breakfast, great for children too. Small and quaint. Good location.
