Went with my family and sat inside as the last time we visited was pre covid. We were really looking forward to it. The staff who served us were really pleasant and served us really quick. But the food wasn 't as good as it used to be, the chips were really hard and didn 't seem fresh, we went just after they had opened so I would have thought they would have been freshly made? the peas were too watery, not worth the money as it was over £45 for the 3 of us. Didn 't complain as the girls that served us were so polite, but wish we had. I should have checked out the reviews before we went as would have gone to the Huntsman but hey ho, will not return,
Ordered lightly battered fish and small chips .both over cooked infact chips burnt but the chef said they wasn't and because I'd eaten some couldn't refund .not that I asked for a refund but this chef pursumed . I should not have ordered looking back as the place looked quiet unkept and dirty .so next time I'll go with gutt instinct and walk away . Food hygien is important .always thought compos was a good chippy but defernatly not on this occasion . Chef was quiet rude really and gave me a sly comment on way out like she wanted last word .childish really .
My husband and I visited Holmfirth to see the graves of Compo and Cleg from Last of the Summer Wine and came upon the restaurant as we were leaving. The fish and chips were the hottest, freshest and best we have tasted in a long time and the young lady who served us was extremely pleasant, friendly and efficient. Thankyou .
Was on my way home and called in for fish and chips to eat on the moors on our way back they were very very poor and we threw them away and for £16.40 for two lots of fish and chips was poor would not recommend

1/5 stars I went in today with a pal I ordered a sauagse butty and cheesy chips the sausage butty was cold and the chips really uncooked my friend emdidnt enjoy his either for the same reason
Service was shocking. It was so slow. The beans were cold. The chips were awful. Staff were rude and ignorant. Had to get our own knifes and forks it was expensive. Do not go hear..
I ordered a jumbo cod but what I received was cooked in oil too hot so the batter was overcooked. The fish was not jumbo The chips were like off cuts and a small portion.
Fish was so thin and wasn’t even fully coated in batter. £17.20 for two fish and chips is a complete **** take. Gave it to the dog to finish off.
