Converse Meats is under new ownership as of August 27,2022.The new name is SMITH'S SLAUGHTERHOUSE owned and operated by Dakota and Jessica Smith. Dakota has been a butcher for 8 years. He was the head butcher when Converse Meats first opened under Tallion Woodward. Then he went on to be a butcher at Brookshire grocery store.Do not let negative reviews from previous owners keep you from giving them a chance.Dakota and Jessica are both hard working and honest people they will do everything in their power to keep their customers happy.Give them a chance to prove they will do a great job.
First time we used this place to process our beef we had great service. We went again this year and that was a mistake. They lost their good butcher and I dont know who they have in there now but whoever is cutting meat needs to be an apprentice still. Absolutely horrible cuts of meat. I wont be back. Unruh in derrider will be getting all my business from here on out. Cut the meat long grain instead cross grain. I specifically asked for the cheek meat to be cut out never got it. I don't recommend this place at all.
the first time we used this place to process our bark meat, we had great service. we went back this year and that was a mistake. they lost their good metzger, and I don't know who they have now, but whoever cuts flesh must still be an apprentice. absolutely terrible meat cuts. I'm not back. unrest in therider will get my whole business from here. cut the meat long chalk instead of crucifix. I specifically asked that the cheeked meat be cut out without getting it. I do not recommend this place at all.
They shorted my meat. Dropped two cows got barely one back. I can't prove it 100% but i can say its awful suspicious. All that aside I asked for 1 inch steaks and 2 inch fillets and got neither. The steaks were barely 3/4 inc and fillets might have been a inch. Dont reccomend at all. They were the only people that could get to our cows so we took them but never will again. Save yourself the aggravation.
