We finally managed to get a babysitter for a couple of nights & thought we would get away. Got to the resort to be told the restaurant was closed (I had emailed prior to ask for a menu with no response), the fish & chip shop closes at 5, & the cafe closed at 3... we ended up having our crackers & cheese as dinner... the kayaks & water bikes were closed for winter... the golf club was closed... it took 90 minutes to walk around the island...In terms of the room itself? Basic. The power was turned on in the unit on our arrival so not sure if we were even expected in the end. Had to wait half an hour for the fridge to cool down & the hot water to heat up for a shower. Bed wasn't bad, but lounge...
Booked rooms for my cousins, what a disgrace, the kitchen, 1 teaspoon, nothing else, nothing worked, no food, the laundry? If that is what it was, empty room except for a wash trough, , no breakfast, old rooms, no doona covers, closed Tuesday, no clean towels for 3 days, rude woman that booked them in just left them standing while on her computer, room wasn’t very clean, no cloth to wipe the benches, didn’t matter because really was nothing to wash, $220.00 per night, I was on the Island with a friend and saw this myself, not hearsay, **** rip off, rude owners, needs a big clean up or clean out
The menu was simplistic (and this is not a bad thing). What suprised me the most was the honesty in the cooking. Real potato mash, a little dry for my taste, lightly honied carrots, slightly overdone beans accompanied my steak. The steak was not the best cut, but it was perfectly cooked (rare) and tender, the pepper sauce was heaven. Make sure you have a cocktail! They have a range of good old fashioned options.
Have just spend 3 days and 2 nights here. Couldn't fault the place and the owners couldn't be more pleasant and helpful. As long as your not expecting 5 star this is your place it's very basic....older style. They have great meals and the best burgers I've tasted in a very long time. They have entertainment on a friday night wiith your meals and half price coctails. We loved the place. We'll be back. Réservez une table maintenant
Stayed in the beach house unit, absolutely loved it. So handy to the main foreshore, jetty and barge. Lovely complex with a very spacious unit. Excellent for relaxing. Only complaint were the flat pillows, the dining table in desperate need of repair due to the loose legs, and the tv sitting on a 4 legged table with 1 leg broken. Accident waiting to happen! Otherwise the resort was fantastic.
If it's a quiet, relaxing, no hussle or bustle kind of break you're hoping for, then this is it. Definitely operating on "island time" if you can live with that you'll enjoy yourself that's for sure! Walk to the beach, eat in the restaurant, but don't move too fast, you're there to relax.
