it is part of the season when the daffodils are out, and they must be blind here. so we went. we left plymouth and drove the train to calstock, and from there we took the 1-1/2 miles away to the house. very easy to follow and find. at the arrival is its typical well oiled national trust machine. the plots are held in large order and the caffe is excellent, and a reasonable price. another way to the quay, which was closed for work and then back to the train only a 4 they asked, good it would have been 5 but a return in the later early summer the gardens and gardens will be in full for a much larger representation of these fantastic gardens.

that's in the did a holiday home. everything you need. very cozy and very quiet. we had a lot of rain in the week we stayed, but it did not reduce our vacation. national trust staff and volunteers were a joy to spend time with it and feel so welcome. I can't praise them enough. beautiful walks from the doorstep. beautiful walk to the pubs in calstock. also various walks to the cotehele house and its beautiful gardens. there is a potter who has a workshop behind the house and he is definitely worth a visit. oh and must not forget dusty, the local cat, he will appreciate all the tasty that come away from him. we are staying here definitiw.

Lovely location for a visit, with the flower garland on display. Very knowledgeable and friendly guides. The tea room is large and has a good selection of cakes, including gluten free. Dogs are allowed in many of the areas on the estate and it is very dog friendly. The walk down to the quay is quite steep, there is a volunteer-driven bus up and down if needed. Disabled parking is right by the house.
