I am comparing this to two other restaurants in the area, One is at the old post office and the other is the gold standard on Attenborough Lane. I've split this on to two, service and food. The service I'm afraid was poor. After standing...at the reception and being ignored we were about to walk out when we were finally offered a table. Our waitress really didn't know what she was doing. They don't sell alcohol, which is not a problem but she waited until we were seated and taken our coats off and then told you'll need to go to the shop. Which also happened to the table next to us. I recently dined at a restaurant with friends, originally planned for Christmas but postponed due to COVID. We were confused by the waiter who only provided wine glasses when we had ordered prosecco (which the restaurant allows you to bring your own alcohol). It felt like a huge inconvenience when we had to ask for a change in glasses. I tried to explain that I had an allergy, but the waiter seemed indifferent. After pushing him to check with the kitchen, I was able to find something else to drink. The food took almost 2 hours to arrive, and we had to inquire about it twice. The only redeeming quality was the lamb dish, which my friend enjoyed. However, everything else was dry, lacked depth...
We have been dining at the Cottage for many years now, and during the pandemic we have regularly ordered take away meals. The menu is big and has a fantastic variety of dishes. My son and I always have something from the spicier end of...the spectrum while my wife prefers the milder dishes. There is a great selection of both with new dishes added recently too, so even more to choose from. I also take my sisters from time to time, both of whom are vegetarian and again there’s plenty to choose from. The staff are always polite and friendly. Even when the restaurant is busy they still find time to make you welcome. We are lucky to have such a great restaurant in our town. We will be back again...
Nice simple menu, lovely food, beautifully clean restaurant and reasonably priced. No alcohol is served but neither did they seem to promote their soft drinks, as I had to ask if they were available. My only criticism would be that i would prefer if all...the staff currently wore face masks due to a lot of unavoidable leaning over diners when being served. I have recently been to the nearby indian restaurant in Chilwell and they were much more vigilant about Covid requirements. Just makes me feel safer in the current climate. I had a great experience at this restaurant. It was very clean and had a nice ambiance. The staff were helpful and polite, and the food was fantastic. The lamb was cooked perfectly and was so tender. The only downside was the price, as we felt it was a bit expensive compared to other places. Despite this, we had a lovely Valentine's Day dinner and were pleased with the service and food quality.
The meal and service was ok, but £2.95 for a small Coke and £13.65 for a small Chicken Jalfrezi?? we usually go to Indian restaurants in Long Eaton as the food and value is great, The Cottage Balti is a rip off for what it...is. I will stick to Long Eaton in the future, you get great food as a reasonable price with a nice Beer to wash it down, no beer at this Balti!
I visited the restaurant on Monday evening. My party was the only one there, but we chose to sit by the window so we didn't feel too lonely. The staff was very friendly and informed us that we could bring our own beverages from the nearby co-op. We opted for non-alcoholic drinks, which ended up being delicious.
