I got here too late to ask permission, but I parked overnight in their parking lot with my camper. When I woke up in the morning, I stepped inside to get breakfast and it felt like stepping into a little piece of southern heaven. I love the atmosphere of Cracker Barrels ' country store. They were able to seat me very quickly and my server was very pleasant. She tackled the insurmountable task of keeping my sweet tea topped off. It almost felt like a game, but as quickly as I drained the glass, there was a pitcher filling it up. Came here for date night and unfortunately didn't have the best experience. Waited ten minutes to be greeted. First she checked my ID and tried saying i wasnt old enought to drink (born in 1997) she evenetually found out how old i was. our appetizer came out cold and with the rest of our food. We sent it back just to have her say the oven caught on fire and they were remaking it. It came back out cheese unmelted. We also both got the wrong meals and when we brought it to our servers attention she didn't want to bring it back. Food came back out cold. It all over was a bad experience. Not one visit from management.
Cracker Barrel is a good chain for a homestyle meal. You get generous portions for a fair price. The food is pretty good, for a chain restaurant. Service can be hit or miss, but we typically get good service at the Olathe location. The restaurant is designed like a farmhouse country store. You'll either like it or you'll hate it. The store portion can feel very crowded, especially when it's busy, and you're waiting for a table.
Had a problem with waitlist. The front desk made a mistake on a previous guest's table of 4, so they gave our spot to them. I had been on the waitlist for over half an hour. Paying was a problem too....only one cashier was open but an employee was standing at other register, when I went to them they said they were closed. 5 minutes of waiting, and then she said they were open. Our server and staff were excellent but our food was sub par at best. The chicken was super over cooked and impossible to chew, I got some kind of sticky chicken tenders that had the sauce just poured all over the plate (instead of the chicken coated in it) so the fries were drowning in it and it was gross. My husband got the meatloaf and it was dry too.
