Crown Carvery The Kingfisher Tavern

I used to come here a few times a week, but it has recently gone downhill. There has been a high turnover of staff and the owner is rarely present. The bar closes at random times and is inconsistent. Many of the employees are young and some are constantly having breakdowns. I had hoped the restaurant had improved, but it seems like it may be closing soon. I gave it another chance today, the food was okay but the drinks were overpriced. I was also told the bar would be closing at 9pm. This is not a good way to run a business.

The worst Sunday roast I have ever had didn't try to finish it, the Yorkshire was burnt almost black, potatoes hard and stale, vegetables overcooked and watery. Fish and chips all batter and also burnt almost black. Two basic meals both terrible, good job the staff are good as the food certainly isn't. Won't go again.

I would recommend trying the three cheese pie at this restaurant as it was very tasty. However, my wife's scampi was mediocre, dry, and of poor quality, which was disappointing. The glass of Merlot we ordered was very sour and overpriced. In general, the visit was somewhat disappointing.

We are regulars here and pop in for food every so often. The system was down tonight but staff were fabulous. All handled professionally and they were all working hard to make sure that customers got the best service. Well done all, as ever. Thank you

Used to come over after work and meet the missis for a nice drink. But don't bother now, it's getting far too expensive. 2 pints of Strongbow cost £10.10. not worth it now.
