Decided to venture down the road for a night local date night, started off well. when checking in, we found there was a 40 min wait for food which wasn’t too bad so happily sat down. despite being lots of empty tables we were squished between two full tables on either side of us. hardly enough room to breathe, made the pair of us feel anxious knowing that both tables can listen in on our conversations and were very conscious that one person sat on the table next to us kept staring at us, kinda ruined the atmosphere. we ordered a cheesy flatbread which came quickly and the half with the cheese was absolutely gorgeous, however the half of it was just burnt bread. after this, we were sat waiting an extra 50 mins for our mains, sat with empty glasses too. no waitress came near for us to even ask if we want another drink so we went to the bar. waitresses seemed to just be gabbing with each other or the regulars. we clearly had a member of staff sat next to us as one of the waitresses, i want to say a head waitress or even manager, came over and slagged one of the other members of staff off, also stating the toilets hadn’t been cleaned one night. speaking of which, i went in the ladies and they were absolutely disgusting, no toilet roll in two of the three and the third had a lovely log left in it fair enough not the staffs fault but still. when our food came, the portions were ridiculously small. we had a burger that came with about ten undercooked chips and a cold sunday dinner with a drizzle of gravy on it, charging for extra. after waiting over 50 mins for food, i’d at least want it hot. portions other than gravy were okay, wouldn’t phone home about it though and the lack of gravy made it extremely dry. no waitress came over to check if it was okay, asked if we wanted another drink, or even came near for us to ask any questions. awful service considering there was about 6 tables in. we ate it as we were starving, and when we finally got the attention of someone for the bill they add an optional service fee. usually, this is something you can select on a card reader yourself, however the waitress basically guilt tripped you into paying it even though they didn’t help us at all. it’s an awkward situation to put someone in, and not fair when staff don’t deserve the tip. i’m someone more than happy to pay a tip if i’m happy with the service, however this time i really wasn’t and nobody asked me the whole time. considering it’s a small local pub, you’d expect the staff to know to be happy and friendly, meet customer service levels and instead of being rude. you’d expect it from a big chain maybe, certainly not this. would not recommend, would not go again, wouldn’t think twice.

Had a great Sunday lunch at the Culcheth arms today12/5724. The Sunday roast was delicious with a plentifful serving of meat. The cauliflower cheese served as a side was to die for and was enough for 3 people. The staff werecheerful and attentive. Will definitely return. Compliments to the chef

Waited 1 hr for a table, fine. Was then told there was a wait of at least 45mins for food! Not fine. We left. Looked to be loads of tables empty. To be honest just seem to be disorganised and disinterested wait staff. Bar man was nice n friendly.

Extremely good food, and not your usual chain pub microwaved stuff. We really appreciated the gluten free menu offered, and it's child friendly and dog friendly, too. Service was a little slow but nothing major.
