A 3.5 rating is spot on. This is a nicely run and friendly place that serves pleasant food. The fit out is old fashioned. It looks 70s not 80s. It doesn't matter as the bistro teeters on the edge of retro fashionability. It also doesn't matter as the place is run well. We were cheerily greeted by both a server and manager. They couldn't have been pleasanter or better at their roles. They're a credit to the business. The mini bread rolls we had to start were lovely. The lamb shanks I ordered were as hearty as I'd hoped on another cool Melbourne evening. They hit the spot beautifully. My colleague's risotto also went down a treat. Last minute decision. My wife and I popped into Da Pasquale in Station St, Fairfield (note this is not Epping!) for a quick supper. The atmosphere in this modest restaurant was very warm and welcoming. We ordered a pizza special (Puttanesca) and couldn't resist adding an order for some wedges with sweet chile and sour cream. The pizza was very nice and the crust/base was crispy. The highlight, though, was the vast plate of wedges! Beautifully crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. This isn't what one would expect from an Italian restaurant but are pleased that we ordered them all the same. reasonable prices as ell.
Tuesday night meeting delayed, we found ourselves with time for dinner. Most local venues were closed. Wandered into this place with no knowledge or confidence and concerned to see only one table occupied. However it was bright and clean, service was quick and friendly and menu was inviting. Preparation of meals took longer than it should have, but this was blamed on electronic communications to kitchen failing. During the wait other patrons arrived and soon the place was almost full. Food arrived and was excellent. Obviously locals who arrived after us knew what we did not. Grat place to eat..
The pizzeria is located in Fairfield. Our family eat pizza and the quality was excellent! The down side is the price range from 12.0-14.5 AUD. This is the price range for as called "medium" size pizza. In a reality the pizza is not big enough for a main course. Next price range is for "large" (should be called normal size) 17.0-20.0 AUD. When you go to a Italian family styled pizza/pasta restaurant and walk out the door hungry something is wrong.Main meal of ravioli whilst very good consisted of 4(that's right 4) pieces of ravioli , main fettuccini carbonara again very nice but hardly call it a main, maybe the new owners need to go to other Italian restaurants and see what portion sizes should be.
A good family friendly restaurant with all the favourites. We had a Pizza Margherita which was smothered in too much cheese. Fresh basil would have been better than the dried version. The fried calamari were very fresh and so was the salad. The standout for me was the Petit Verlot from Bordeaux which you could order by the glass. At $7.50 you couldn't go wrong!
We went there last night & had a very good meal. We ordered a Joe's special pizza large & I had the Baramundi fish. All was very enjoyable & service was very friendly & fast. Nice watching the man making the pizzas & the woodfire oven was great. Nice to receive complimentary bread straight from the oven too. Ellie 16/1
Spent a Saturday night here with the family. Kids and wife had a pasta each. All were fresh. I had the calamari which was also fresh. Portions were generous and service was friendly and courteous. Dessert and coffee also impressed. Thoroughly recommend. Réservez une table maintenant
