After a day at the zoo we were looking for a place to rest and eat, and since Renato was the simple answer. It is conveniently located between the Zoo Magliaso and the train station. It has a decent indoor and outdoor area. When we were there, a Swiss birthday party took place, and we wanted to see each other. So we discovered the huge hall they could offer for parties and larger assemblies. The staff was friendly, attentive and very patient with children. You also have a visual children's menu and a small children's corner to play and draw. They only speak Italian, and the menu is written only in Italian and German, but somehow we could still pass. Das Restaurant macht sowohl im geschlossenenTeil wie auch auf der Terrasse (wegen der nahen Hauptstrasse etwas laut) einen sehr sauberen und freundlichen Eindruck. Die Tische sind weiss gedeckt; die Servietten textilähnlich. Der Service ist freundlich und aufmerksam. Die Pizzen sind im Vergleich zur Deutschschweiz günstig, mit dünnem knusprigem Teig und guter Belegung. Knausrig kommt die die Verrechnung eines Kindersirups (Fr. 2.50) zu einem Kindermenü herüber.
Auf unserer Morgen-Tour sind wir gegen Mittag zufällig bei 'Da Renato' vorbeigekommen. Mit Freude haben wir die reichhaltige Auswahl zur Kenntnis genommen und Gutes serviert bekommen. Auffällig war, dass viele Handwerker zu Mittag gegessen haben, sicher auch wegen der freundlichen Preisen. Erfreulich: Ich konnte eine grosszügig eingerichtetes Rollstuhl-WC nutzen - einfach nach dem Schlüssel fragen.
Das Restaurant liegt an der Hauptstrasse unterhalb des Zoos. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich. Wer italienisch spricht, hat einen Vorteil. Am Mittag wird ein Menue angeboten. Ich habe a la Carte gegessen. Das Essen schmeckte sehr gut, der Wein auch. Die Preise sind moderat. Einiges günstiger als in der Deutschschweiz. Mit der Zooquittung bekommt man hier Fr. 5.-- Rabatt. We stayed in Ponte Tresa for two nights. On the second evening we decided to make a pizza. A friend gave us the address of Da Renato. We were a little early and the place was empty. The service was friendly and efficient. We have a large and delicious pizza with lots of salami, cheese, vegetables, spices etc. Very tasty and well done. We'll be back.
